Graduate School of Health Sciences, Molecular Neuroscience Doctorate Program:
The function of the brain is the result of a highly complex integration of the signaling units: To understand the role of neurons in health and disease, it is important to understand the underlying mechanisms underlying neuronal function. Along with the progress made in genetics in recent years, it has become a great desire to understand what these genes do in neuronal systems. It is necessary for our country to catch up with this rapidly growing knowledge accumulation around the world and to create a sub-structure that will produce its pioneering work in this field.
In addition, the basic understanding of molecular principles holds the key to the unique therapeutic paradigms for neurological diseases such as autism, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
The Purpose of the Molecular Neuroscience PhD Program;
- To provide students with in-depth knowledge of the basic and experimental neuroscience of several brain disorders including psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders
- To educate qualified instructors and academicians in this field who want to play an important role in finding solutions for today and tomorrow's diseases.
"Brain initiative Project", which was launched in the United States in 2013, has been thought to be a need of this program in the Turkish and Middle East Coordination University and the opening of the PhD program was realized in accordance with this need.
On the other hand, individuals who have completed the Molecular Neuroscience PhD Program will be able to work in the field of molecular and cellular neuroscience as well as in basic areas of neuroscience.
For this purpose, in Molecular Neuroscience PhD program, a wide range of curriculum has been developed for the students to choose the necessary courses, for the students to learn the necessary information and the elective courses which are suitable for the field they want to work in and to be able to get the necessary information specific to this area as well as the information about the desired field.
