Pathology Laboratory

A pathology technician is an auxiliary medical staff that prepares tissue and body fluids for microscopic examination. It is aimed at reinforcing the theoretical knowledge in the application accompanied by becoming fully equipped and graduating. In this direction;

  • Devices and glass materials used in Pathology laboratories are known.
  • Know acceptance and rejection criteria of tissue and cytological materials.
  • Know the solutions and application sequence of the tissue.
  • It acquires the ability to use microtome devices to obtain sections of 3-5 microns in thickness from textures.
  • Learn deparaffinization process and application steps.
  • Prepare and apply dye solutions for dyeing of tissues and cytological materials.
  • They know the decalcification stage and the acids used and prepare them.
  • The processes to be performed according to the properties of cytological materials are known (direct diffusion, centrifugation, cytocentrifuge, cell block) and applied.
  • Knowledge about the maintenance and calibration of the devices used in Pathology Laboratory and its applications.
  • Knows and applies special paint work applied to tissues.

Our students perform all these skills and practices in Pathology Laboratory in the presence of expert lecturers.
