Bioengineering Basic and Application Laboratory

Bioengineering is a field of profession that develops innovative materials, devices, processes and informatics platforms by close analysis of biological systems from an engineering perspective. Üsküdar University Department of Bioengineering aims to train engineers who can develop new technologies inspired by biological systems and processes, as well as can build bridges between medical sciences and engineering sciences. Our department focuses on the education of bioengineers who have basic knowledge of biology, chemistry, and engineering, are equipped with technologies used in the health sector, pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, and engineering sciences, can produce innovative applications and solutions in different fields of academia and industry, and have acquired interdisciplinary working principles. As indicated, well-equipped practical laboratory education is one of the indispensable elements of the bioengineering profession and, practical sessions in the Bioengineering Basic and Application Laboratory provides unique opportunity to gain experience for the future bioengineers.

The Bioengineering Basic and Application Laboratory which is located on the -1st floor of Üsküdar University Main Campus, Building A, is equipped with devices that undergraduate and graduate students need during their education and research and, is open to their use.

Fundamental Principles and Practices of Bioengineering Basic and Application Laboratory

1. To enable students to acquire basic laboratory rules and applied working discipline.
2. To provide students with detailed and applied knowledge about basic research methods and devices used in Bioengineering.
3. To provide interdisciplinary working familiarity to students who experience technologies used in different fields (bioprocess engineering, molecular biology, biotechnology, genetic engineering, etc.).
4. To carry out experiments planned within the scope of graduation project and thesis studies of undergraduate and graduate students within our department.
5. To ensure that national/international research projects are carried out jointly with different disciplines (chemistry, molecular biology, engineering, etc.) and institutions (universities, research centers, industrial organizations, etc.).
