GIT607 Design Management and Strategy (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 9

Within the scope of this course, the definition of design disciplines, the definition and purpose of design management; development of design strategies and management; the role of design as a strategic and competitive business tool; design-driven innovation; design as a process; human resources for design; different models using design expertise; Emphasis is placed on design and organizational culture. The main features of the sectors where design and creativity are at the forefront, creativity and design processes, strategy and management issues are examined.

GIT602 Communication Theory and Approaches (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 9

This course covers communication and visual communication theories and approaches. The theories and approaches developed since the birth of communication studies, especially the theories, approaches and models developed within the liberal paradigm are analyzed in detail. In the perspective of communication studies, theories and approaches developed in the field of visual communication are examined in detail.

GIT609 Research Methods and Academic Ethics (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 9

The main purpose of the course is to point out the possible methodological problems that students will encounter during the thesis phase and to discuss the quantitative and qualitative methods used in communication research and the relevance of these methods to research problematics. The relationship between theory and method will be examined within the scope of the course; quantitative and qualitative methods will be evaluated in the context of researches.

GIT610 Critical Thinking in Visual Communication (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 9

This course focuses on critical media and communication theories developed within political economy and cultural studies. Ideology analysis, economic-political analysis, discourse analysis, reception analysis, text reading can be evaluated within this scope. In addition, within the scope of the course, critical perspectives and thoughts in the field of social sciences as well as art and design will be emphasized.

GIT608 Seminar (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

In this course, subjects and methods covered in other courses are studied practically. In the course, which forms the basis for the Ph.D. thesis, it is essential to make studies suitable for the character of the students thesis subjects.

GIT621 Image and Visual Semiotics (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

This course deals with the concepts of sign, symbol, icon, gesture and messaging, which are the main and primary topics of semiotics, in connection with communication design. Starting with basic definitions, sign in terms of signifier and signifier, semiotics, logic, linguistics, mathematics and psychoanalysis, semiotic theory and myths as a semiotic system will be the focus of the course.

GIT623 Digital Culture and Design (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

In this course, in recent years with the developments in internet and information and communication technologies in recent years, the major changes in the way of working, learning and communication of humanity, the differentiation of consumption habits, participation in public life, the understanding of entertainment and the transformation of life styles over the world wide will be examined.

GIT625 Transmedia Narratives (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

In this course, transmedia narrative terminology will be discussed in relation to theories on new media ecology, convergence culture and contemporary narrative literature, and transmedia narrative strategies will be examined through global and local examples.

GIT627 Data Visualization and Infographic (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

This course focuses on the history of data visualization and infographics. Researches are made on data flow, information production and dissemination.

GIT629 Animated Cinema (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

Within the scope of this course, researches are made on theoretical knowledge about animation, animation language and logic, visual language and basic elements of cinema language, animation film techniques, superficial and single-picture motion (stop motion) applications and animation film production stages.

GIT631 Medical Simulation and Animation (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

In the course, medical animation film production processes are examined through an animation film application that computer-aided animation production technologies combined with scientific knowledge, film language and aesthetic concerns.

GIT633 Design for Disabled (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

In this course, research and studies are carried out in order to redefine the design product development process and to develop innovative solutions for these needs, taking into account the needs of individuals with disabilities.

GIT635 Industry Graphics (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

In this course, importance and function of visual communication design in the field of industry, and the problems related to the development and dissemination of industry graphics are analyzed. Communication trends and their effects on the field of graphic design, user-oriented product graphics design, media, material and content connection are emphasized.

GIT620 Typography Researches (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

The main purpose of this course is to identify, analyze, discuss and develop solutions for typographic problems encountered in different environments of visual communication. Typographic conceptualizations are developed for new or different forms of communication.

GIT622 Interactive Media Researches (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

This course focuses on human-computer interaction, the social effects of new media, and the use of text, images, motion pictures, sounds and animations in various communication environments. 

GIT624 Service Design Researches (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

In this course, the techniques and methods required to reveal the services that provide a holistic user experience, human-oriented service design processes, case analysis and insight research, applying techniques such as empathy and emotion maps, theories and approaches in this field, service experiences, topics include prototyping, service design and organizational change, service design and social innovation, complex problems in service design, and future scenarios for service design research.

GIT626 Usability and User Experience Design (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

This course is aimed at understanding the basics of human understanding and perception. The course will focus on understanding the human factor for reliable systems that are suitable for use and the ways and ways people do a job. Students are expected to learn how people respond to different design components and how they can consciously use these responses in the design process.

GIT628 Educational Material Design (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

In this course, the characteristics of various instructional technologies, the development of two- and three-dimensional materials through instructional technologies, the examination of educational software, the evaluation of various instructional materials, the Internet and distance education, the principles of visual design, research on the effectiveness of instructional materials, teaching in Turkey and in the world. Emphasis is placed on the use of technologies

GIT630 Innovation in Communication Design (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

Within the scope of this course, the concept of innovation related to technological developments in the field of communication design is discussed. It brings certain perspectives to the concept of design through discussions and studies on this concept in the classroom environment and why people use objects as a strategy in product marketing. Discussions are held on how future designers can develop in order to create innovative designs. 

GIT632 Artifical Intellligence Art and Design (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

The course covers the use of art and design-oriented artificial intelligence. Introduces Artificial Intelligence concepts. Provides tools for creating well-defined AI problem formulations. It studies tools and structures for designing intelligent agent systems. It provides tools for solving problems according to the nature of the problem and search space. 

GIT634 Neurodesign (3+0) Credit: 3 AKTS: 6

The course will cover creativity, innovation, digital engineering and neuroscience in the field of design. Collaboration between interdisciplinary research, education and practice is encouraged. The course will cover a better understanding of the needs of Human physiology and psychology and how to translate them into innovative design.
