Master’s in New Media and Journalism - About

New Media and Journalism Master Program (With Thesis / Without Thesis)

The area known as journalism in traditional communication studies has gained a new dimension since the 1990s, with advances in computer technology and the introduction of the Internet. This new dimension, called the new media, was involved in the process, and journalism training had to be reorganized to include the new media. These arrangements are based on an interdisciplinary approach, especially in postgraduate education.

The program itself has an interdisciplinary understanding and is fed by various branches of science within the scope of communication sciences, while at the same time it is becoming open to new scientific fields with technological developments. The foundation of the new media as a basis for journalistic studies allows journalism to evolve and develop, depending on technological developments.

There are two main goals in the program. The first is to lead academic studies to examine the impact of the new media on journalism  and transforming it at the academic level; and the second is to offer an attractive training program for media professionals who will do the journalism profession in the new media environment. Today journalism is increasingly moving to the internet, and the need for professionals equipped with new media opportunities is increasing. Students who graduate from the program will be able to work both on the internet versions of traditional newspapers and as professionals equipped directly with internet based media.
