Drawing attention to the importance of intermediate staff workforce in the field of health, Prof. Mesut Karahan stated that "Health technicians are valuable employees who alleviate the workload in the health sector. They are gaining a foothold in many state and private hospitals, clinics and even health companies." Karahan draws attention to the fact that employment will become qualified with the newly opened Podology and Hair Care and Beauty Services programs.

Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Director Prof. Mesut Karahan evaluated the advantages and opportunities of associate degree in the field of health for the candidates who are in the preference marathon.

Basic principles such as innovation and leadership

VSHS Director Prof. Mesut Karahan emphasized that the university adopts basic principles such as academic honesty, academic freedom, environmental awareness, aesthetic reliability, business discipline, dedication and idealism, quality and self-confidence, participation, institutionalized ethical sensitivity, respect, sense of responsibility and accountability, community orientation, innovation and leadership.

Young and dynamic academic staff is important...

Stating that the vocational school consists of a large academic staff who are mostly young, dynamic and have field experience, Prof. Mesut Karahan expressed that "We have an educational awareness that discovers and nurtures the personal characteristics of our students, the reason for choosing a department, their career tendency, their desire to progress in their careers and their tendencies towards the field of study. We always have the ideology of expanding the educational capacity of our students."

The double major opportunity should be considered...

Noting that they provide opportunities for students who achieve success in their GPA to do a double major, Prof. Mesut Karahan stated that "Thus, they have the chance to graduate from our university with two diplomas by continuing their education in a second program they successfully deserve. With the effort to be identical in terms of the content of our courses in the first two years with our faculty of health sciences, they have a high chance of continuing their education in our faculties when they succeed in the vertical transfer exam. Moreover, our university has many master's and doctorate programs and always keeps the way open for them to progress to the highest degrees of education."

They learn how to carry out projects with TÜBİTAK student projects

Stating that it is very valuable for students to be in the field they love no matter which department they choose, Prof. Mesut Karahan expressed that "Because all these opportunities are valid for every program they choose. It is very valuable for us to reveal the investigative aspects of our students in our associate degree programs. Thanks to our TÜBİTAK student projects, they can always learn to carry out projects with us and obtain scientific output. Therefore, we are a university with a student-oriented education system."

Newly opened programs are an opportunity...

Stating that Üsküdar University VSHS opened Hair Care and Beauty Services and Podology programs this year, Prof. Karahan said that "Hair Care and Beauty Services is a growing industry with many long-term career options. It is an ideal program for those interested in helping people look and feel their best."

A great start for your own business...

Stating that the education to be received in the Hair Care and Beauty Services program at Üsküdar University will provide all the basic knowledge about this field as well as the business management infrastructure, Prof. Karahan expressed that "If you aim to start your own business in the future, the associate degree program is a very good start and step for you."

Podologist employment will be qualitatively strengthened...

Stating that the podology program is an important health field that deals with foot health and diseases and provides auxiliary treatment and care services, Prof. Mesut Karahan said that "The participation of podology education in education and training as an associate degree will strengthen the employment of podologists in our country, where foot problems are widespread. The current number of graduates may be insufficient to meet the foot problems of the society and the need continues. It will be a suitable program for people who are interested in foot health and care, who can make practical decisions, who have high manual dexterity, or who want to improve these aspects. Dealing with foot problems caused by neurological, metabolic, autoimmune, rheumatic and even infectious diseases means collaborating with physicians in many different medical fields. It will be an ideal program especially for individuals who are eager to work in multidisciplinary fields."

The importance of intermediate staff workforce in the field of health

Prof. Karahan drew attention to the importance of intermediate staff in the field of health and made the following remarks:

"Not all individuals are born and raised in the same conditions. Perhaps, one of the most beautiful aspects of associate degree programs is one of the keys to having a job in a short time and gaining economic confidence. The health team is complemented not only by professions such as medicine and nursing, but also by technically trained manpower. Moreover, it contributes to employment in related sectors at a much younger age, which provides an additional advantage in terms of eliminating unemployment, with associate degree education. Especially health technicians are valuable employees who alleviate the workload in the health sector. They are found in many state and private hospitals, clinics and even health companies."

Practical and hands-on training opportunities

Stating that Üsküdar University, as an institution that is devoted to the field of health and follows the current literature, offers practical and applied training opportunities to its students, Prof. Karahan expressed that "We offer internship and observation opportunities to students in cooperation with the application partner NPİSTANBUL Hospital, NP Feneryolu Medical Center and NP Etiler Medical Center. With the same awareness, it is always ready to open practical training, internship and observation and even job doors to its students who are devoted to the field of health. Our university makes agreements and protocols with many state and private sectors through its career center.
