Secularism, identity and cultural pluralism are revisited

"A Guide to Understanding Charles Taylor" offers an in-depth analysis of secularism, identity, and cultural pluralism. The book re-evaluates the concept of secularism through Taylor's ideas. It includes serious articles on this subject and translations of texts made with the philosopher.

It illuminates the errors and contradictions...

The book also discusses how Taylor's Canadian experience can contribute to the secular structure of the Republic of Türkiye in its 101st year. Charles Taylor's views on secularism shed light on the mistakes and contradictions that Turkish intellectuals often fall into.

On the back cover of the book:

Many people develop deeper philosophical and spiritual insights as they age. It can include involving with fundamental questions about the meaning of life, existence, and moral values, and contributes to a deeper understanding of one's place in the world.

Wisdom includes the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and bounce back from life's setbacks. Older individuals usually have an accumulation of resilience that they have gained from their past experiences. However, let's face it, wisdom is not just a result of aging.

It is important to recognize that wisdom is developed through conscious thinking, being open to learning, and the ability to grow by benefiting from one's experiences. Although old age provides the canvas of experience and time on which wisdom can be painted, it is ultimately the individual's commitment to life and learning that fills this canvas.

Let's look at what our 101-year-old Republic has taught/failed to teach us about wisdom and coexistence in the light of the views of Canadian philosopher Charles Taylor who is considered one of the most important living philosophers of our time and devoted his life to these issues of identity, secularism, multiculturalism, and coexistence.
