President of Üsküdar University and Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan invites readers to question the dynamics of evil at individual, societal, and global levels with his new book The Psychology of Evil and Toxic Relationships published by Timaş Publishing. The book draws attention to the increasing prevalence of evil, malicious language, and toxic relationships, while emphasizing the importance of a meaning and value-centered life.

Knowing evil and taking precautions against it

Expressing the motto “One who does not know evil falls into its trap,” Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, by examining the benevolent and malevolent tendencies of humans in depth, stated that the first step in preventing the normalization of evil is to recognize it. Tarhan emphasizes that individuals must be alert to the traps of evil both in their inner world and in their everyday life, work life, and social relationships.

It addresses the neurobiology of evil with mental evidence…

The book addresses evil tendencies with neurobiological and mental evidence within a framework of understanding the self and ego. It elaborates on personality types prone to evil and explains how the behaviors of individuals with antisocial (psychopath, sociopath) and narcissistic personalities can lead to toxic effects. Tarhan emphasized that the development of a healthy superego minimizes the likelihood of doing evil and activates the person’s conscience mechanism.

Hierarchy of values and proposed solutions

The book also touches on the results of the breakdown of the hierarchy of values at societal and individual levels. Tarhan aims to guide readers toward a faith and meaning-centered lifestyle by offering good and value-oriented solutions to these problems.

A work shedding light on the tendency toward evil…

The book is a work that sheds light on the tendency toward evil in humans, at a time when incidents that harm the societal conscience are on the rise. In the book, Tarhan brings up the issues that need to be considered at both the individual and societal levels to avoid doing evil or falling into the traps of evil. By combining modern psychology’s data with faith-based approaches, it provides individuals with a strong guide to understand both themselves and their environment.

Published by Timaş Publishing, Psychology of Evil and Toxic Relationships is a comprehensive guide aimed at raising more conscious individuals in a world where good and evil collide.
