The "Shining Example" Reference to the ‘Manifesto for Universal Human Values and Rights from the USA
As support for the joint ‘Manifesto for Universal Human Values and Rights’ opened for signature by Üsküdar University and Kazakhstan’s L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University continues to grow, another endorsement has come from Dr. Ravi Chandra, a member of the American Psychiatric Association. Referring to the manifesto as a shining example, Chandra made the following statement: "In a time when human values are corrupted, erased, horrifically devalued, and destroyed, this is a shining example."
Since its publication, the ‘Universal Human Values and Rights Manifesto’ has been attracting global attention, and the number of supporters continues to grow each day.
Most recently, Dr. Ravi Chandra, a member of the American Psychiatric Association, referred to the manifesto in his message as “a shining example in a time when values have been lost.”
In his message to President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Chandra used the following expressions:
“Dear Prof. Tarhan,
Thank you for this wonderful manifesto and for the incredible news that it has accrued 400,000 signatures. It is a shining example of humanitarian values in a time when these are being eroded, erased, horrifically devalued and even annihilated.
I was just "joking" with a friend who was wearing a Kamala Harris T-shirt stating "Yes She Can." I said "Yes She Did! She saved our humanity - but lost .... because of said humanity!"
Life is indeed a struggle, but a joy because more of us are sharing in the struggle. I think of all those whose personal and communal struggles are not at the top of our lists for the moment, and many of our patients who bear silent struggles against oppressions in their own minds, families, and neighborhoods, not to mention how these struggles are connected to broader systems of exploitation, our human quagmire. Maybe there's some solace in Thich Nhat Hanh's reminder "no mid, no lotus," and in the Dalai Lama's words."
Chandra also shared an image. The image reads as follows:
Joyful Life Based on Non-violence
"Sentient beings in general and particularly the people of this planet are like members of one human family. Our happiness, both temporary and ultimate, is interrelated and dependent on the happiness of others. Since it is evident from experience and historical accounts that ill-will and conflict lead to mutual destruction, it is my hope and prayer that we will always live a happy and joyful life based on non-violence truth, equality and a clear conscience.
H.H. The XIVth Dalai Lama"
