Üsküdar University VSHS Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Program students visited OTTO BOCK.

Within the scope of the trip, the students had the chance to see OTTO BOCK, a company operating in the field of orthopedic technology, known as the world market leader in prosthetics and one of the leading suppliers in the field of orthotics, wheelchairs and exoskeletons.

Students learned about bionic hand applications

During the trip, a seminar was given on Myoelectronics and Bionic hand applications. Prosthetic Orthotics Technician Lokman Sağlık gave information to the students about Myoelectronic signals. Sağlık stated that "An electrical voltage in the microvolt range can be measured on the surface of the skin during the contraction of the limb muscle. This measurable signal is called a myoelectronic signal. The measurement of such signals over time is called electromyography. The signals are recorded in the form of curves.”

Electrode applications were mentioned

During the trip, Prosthetic Orthotics Technician Lokman Sağlık informed the students of Üsküdar University Orthopedic Prosthesis and Orthotics Program. Talking about electrode applications, Sağlık expressed that "Clearly distinguishable, well-received muscle signals are essential for safe prosthetic use. Therefore, after the position of the two electrodes is determined, we test the separation and quality of the signals using computer software."

The event ended after the students took a group photo after practical practice.
