In the video, which includes the studies carried out in this field so far, researchers from Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Hospital, who represent Türkiye, are given a wide place…

Founded in 2013 and featuring distinguished researchers in the field of neuroscience, especially in the USA, the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT) continues its studies at the global level with the support of Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Hospital. While Üsküdar University is the only university representing our country at the G20 - Neuroscience20 (BRAIN- SPINE- MENTAL HEALTH) conference, President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan successfully represents our country as he leaves 10 years behind.

Üsküdar University team represented our country in two separate sessions

The 21st annual congress of the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT), which included distinguished researchers in the field of neuroscience, especially in the USA, was held in Los Angeles, USA. Only researchers from Türkiye being from Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Hospital participated in the 21st annual congress, which covers all neurological disorders from imaging to genomics and nano, and includes distinguished researchers in the field of neuroscience, especially from the USA.

The research team, which participated in the congress under the chairmanship of President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, represented our country in two separate sessions titled "Advances in Neuroimaging Techniques" and "Addiction Medicine".

Presentations in which neuromorphic computer technologies were discussed were also made

In the presentations in which neuromorphic computer technologies that will be at the center of new generation neuroscience studies were discussed, Üsküdar University has led the "Edge Computing" technology transformation, which is designed to bring applications and computing capabilities closer to the users or "objects" that need them, instead of cloud computing technology, which works with the principle of high speed and performance.

The new generation of neuromorphic computers, which are based on synaptic neural networks instead of artificial neural networks, also contribute to the edge computing transformation with much lower energy consumption and higher computing capacity than quantum computers.

What is the goal of neuromorphic computers?

Neuromorphic computers, which aim to achieve three basic features that the human brain has but computers do not, have the following features:

-Low power consumption: Power close to the energy consumption of the human brain,

-Fault tolerance: The loss of neurons in neuromorphic chips has a negligible effect on the performance of the system and has high fault tolerance

-It does not need to be programmed: It learns and changes on its own as it interacts with information.

It leads the neuromorphic computers transformation in the field of neuroscience in Türkiye

Üsküdar University researchers, who develop smart predictive models by using Artificial Intelligence-based and Deep learning algorithms on the Cloud, are leading the transformation in the field of neuroscience in Türkiye with the strategy of shifting their studies in the field of neuroscience to neuromorphic computers.

Presentations from Türkiye attracted great attention

The presentations made by academicians from Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Hospital from Türkiye also attracted the attention of researchers.

With the new product it has developed, NPİSTANBUL Hospital announced that Vielight company is used in the treatment of Alzheimer's, Traumatic Brain Injury, Parkinson's, Autism, PTSD, Long-covid and through a process called photobiomodulation (PBM), which improves mitochondrial health by absorbing light energy in the red to NIR wavelength range, mitochondria, biochemical reactions and other cellular processes, working as cellular "batteries" that provide energy to carry out metabolic and cerebral blood contributed to innovative treatment processes by including The Vielight Neuro™ product, which increases its flow, in the treatment protocol.

Üsküdar represents Türkiye with her work in the field of neuroscience...

Stating that they are very happy that the neurotechnology-oriented studies of Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Hospital attract close attention from international researchers, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan said that they are happy to be the reference address for our country's studies in these fields.

The memorandum of understanding was signed in 2022 hosted by Üsküdar...

Hosted by Üsküdar University and led by Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, the memorandum of understanding was signed at the İstanbul summit in 2022 with the delegations of the USA, Europe, ME+ and Indonesia of the N20 Initiative under the leadership of Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, which was on the fact that the acceleration and implementation of neuro-diagnostics and treatments through the transformation, sharing, integration and commercialization of neurotechnologies can be achieved through an international partnership.

Türkiye was mentioned in the wide portion of the video...

President of the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT) Dr. Babak Kateb published a video about the G20 working group, which has been renamed Neuroscience20 (Brain, Spine and Mental Health), and gives extensive coverage to the studies carried out with the representatives of Türkiye Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Hospital.

The Brain Mapping and Therapies Association, which carries out its studies in this field at a global level with the support of Üsküdar University, explains these studies in the video the association has prepared.

President of the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT) Dr. Babak Kateb informed on the G20 working group, which was renamed Neuroscience20 (Brain, Spine and Mental Health).

Informing about the congress on the Brain Mapping TV YouTube channel, Dr. Babak Kateb expressed that under Neuroscience20, they have created regional initiatives that bring together scientists from different fields such as computer experts, neurologists, psychiatrists, spine surgeons and psychologists to cross pollinate ideas.

It brought together scientists from different fields....

Reminding that in 2014, they launched Neuroscience20, which includes the brain, mental health and spine, to look at the cost of neurological disorders to the world economy, Dr. Babak Kateb made his remarks as follows:

" Therefore, under the Neuroscience 20, we have regional initiatives, which brings scientists from different background, computer scientists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, psychiatrists, spine surgeons and psychologist together in order to crosspollinate ideas, look at the top costly neurological disorders and see what technology we can bring to market to be able to reduce that cost and provide the access to patients, which could actually reduce also not only the financial burden but also the health burden on the population."

Asia Pacific and Latin America LA Brain Initiatives established

Moreover, Dr. Kateb noted that they have Asia Pacific Brain Initiative and that they have also created the Latin America Los Angeles Brain Initiative. Dr. Kateb expressed that they also talk to the policy makers that they look at technologies and innovations and Fast Track Therapeutics (method that allows to get results in a shorter time than average) but also provide access to care.

Dr. Babak Kateb was awarded the title of "Honorary Doctorate" by the Senate of Üsküdar University

Meanwhile, President of the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT) Dr. Babak Kateb was awarded the title of "Honorary Doctorate" by the Senate of Üsküdar University for his valuable contributions to neuroscience studies on a regional and global scale and his high dedication in the treatment of brain diseases.
