Forensic Sciences student Gizem Şahin was elected as a full member of the YÖKAK student commission

Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Department of Forensic Sciences senior student Gizem Şahin was elected as a full member of the YÖKAK Student Commission by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK).

Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Department of Forensic Sciences senior student Gizem Şahin was elected as a full member of the YÖKAK Student Commission by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK), which makes the institutional accreditation decision of higher education institutions in Türkiye and is responsible for the authorization and recognition activities of program accreditation bodies.

Gizem Şahin is among the 7 elected members

82 applications from 45 higher education institutions were made to the call announced by the Higher Education Quality Council to determine members to serve in the YÖKAK Student Commission in the 2023-2024 Academic Year. After the evaluations, 17 candidates from 16 higher education institutions were entitled to be interviewed. 7 new members were elected to the student commission, which consists of a total of 11 members. Üsküdar University student Gizem Şahin was also entitled to be among the 7 new members.

Şahin participated in Quality Ambassador Program and Quality Ambassador Workshop

Şahin started her quality studies with the Quality Ambassador Program and Quality Ambassador Workshop organized by the Higher Education Quality Council and successfully completed these training programs.

Gizem Şahin is currently working as a student working in the Quality Directorate. At the same time, she is the President of the Quality Club and carries out the club activities under the consultancy of Assoc. Prof. Aylin Yalçın Sarıbey.

Higher Education Quality Council Student Commission

In line with the decision taken by YÖKAK on October 01, 2019, Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) Student Commission was established to carry out studies at national and international level with the dissemination of quality assurance culture in the field of higher education, internalization of quality processes and increasing the participation of students in the quality assurance system. The duties of the YÖKAK Student Commission are as follows:

• To carry out studies to ensure that the culture of quality assurance in higher education is internalized and disseminated by students,

• To increase the participation of students in quality assurance processes in higher education,

• To plan the activities to be carried out during the academic year and present them to the Board,

• To carry out studies with student participation at national and international level,

• To propose the evaluator candidate students to take part in the evaluation programs carried out by the Board to the Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Commission,

• To create an archive of the work carried out and present it to the Board,

• To prepare an activity report on the activities carried out by the Commission during the relevant year and to submit it to the Board,

• To organize Quality Ambassador Training.
