'Metaverse Multidimensional Life Begins!' hit the shelves...
The book 'Metaverse Multidimensional Life Begins!', edited by President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan and Faculty of Communication faculty member Assoc. Prof. Aylin Tutgun Ünal, is now on the shelves. The book brings together important information about being conscious of the benevolent and malicious consequences of the digital revolution that the world is experiencing.
The book, which was brought together with the readers by DER Publications, discusses the issue of artificial intelligence and metaverse and the digital exploitation of people, which has attracted attention recently.
Prof. Nevzat Tarhan: "We have clearly started to see that global inequality is deepening"
Drawing attention to the digital revolution in the preface of the book, President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan stated that "Capitalism has produced new models of colonization. Most of the world's resources are seized by those who manage digital platforms. We are beginning to see clearly that global inequality is deepening. Just as we see that if there is injustice in a family, the fight does not end. This also applies to the societies that are made up of the dynamics of the family which is a reduced society, in other words, an enlarged family."
Digitalization is actually neutral
Talking about three things that obstruct justice, Tarhan stated that "The three things that most corrupt justice are selfishness, self-interest, and mendacity. These three toxic behaviors poison relationships. Nepotism increases. Trust weakens. Friend and foe get mixed. Peace and tranquility are disturbed. If there is digital speed and convenience, disorder is published quickly. Crime and violence increase. Pressure and threats are used to ensure governance. The sense of obedience decreases. Hidden evils become widespread. Digitalization itself is neutral. If it is used for the right goals and methods, it serves humanity, and if it is used incorrectly, it globalizes evil. At the final point, people will be able to become voluntary soldiers of digital exploitation with artificial intelligence and entertainment magic if the metaverse comes to life." Prof. Nevzat Tarhan mentioned that as authors, they did this work to be aware of the benevolent and malicious consequences of the digital revolution, and Tarhan thanked everyone who contributed.
