"We wanted to draw attention to children's rights"

In the exhibition organized to raise awareness of children's rights and to draw attention to children's fundamental rights such as living, shelter, health and protection, Photographer K. Deniz Kalaycı stated that "On the occasion of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly, the 20th day of November is celebrated as 'World Children's Rights Day' every year. Although many norms and mechanisms have been implemented at the universal and regional level with the aim to protect and strengthen children's rights, unfortunately, thousands of children around the world lose their lives due to hunger, health problems and wars. In recent days, more than four thousand children have been killed in Israeli attacks in Palestine alone."

"The photos we take turn into silent screams"

Mentioning that people cannot express some words with screams; however, in the language of the art of photography, those photographs turn into silent screams, K. Deniz Kalaycı said that "Beyond being a photographer and a professor, there is something that I always say and defend as a mother. Sometimes, we tell some words that children, women and people cannot express with screams in the language of the art of photography, and the photos we take turn into silent screams. I wish you to listen to the silent screams in the photographs in our exhibition, and I wish all children in the world, who deserve the best of everything, to lead a healthy, happy, peaceful and successful life."

The exhibition awaits its visitors in the Çarşı Campus Lobby area between November20-30.
