Üsküdar University Vice Rector Prof. Sevil Atasoy, who participated in the interview at the book fair held for the 13th time this year in Kocaeli, rejected the allegations that crime rates increase on full moon nights and said: "I have police students, and I ask them if crime increases on full moon. They all say that it is increasing, but there is no such statistics anywhere. No police unit increases the number of patrols just because there is a full moon. Go out on the full moon without any fear. Wander around with a peace of mind."

ATASOY EXPLAINED THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FULL MOON AND CRIME

According to the news in DHA, academician and writer Prof. Sevil Atasoy, who was deemed worthy of the scientist of the year award for her contribution to crime scene investigation, development of criminal laboratories and DNA evidence in Türkiye, explained the relationship between full moon and crime with scientific data in the interview titled 'Does Crime Increase in Full Moon?'.

Stating that the full moon is the subject of various legends, Atasoy said that "Scientists have been saying that the sky has affected people for centuries. Hippocrates said that one who does not know the phase of the stars should not see a patient. Again, scientists are divided on whether or not the phases of the moon increase the crime rate. On the other hand, the legend of the werewolf has surrounded the whole world when it comes to the full moon. It has been argued that werewolves and some creatures appear.
