You Need to Realize! Don’t Leave Them Alone

Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital initiate an awareness movement for October 10, World Mental Health Day with a slogan of “You Need to Realize. Don’t Leave Them Alone”. It is aimed to raise awareness of teenagers against all kinds of threats such as peer victimization and violence. 

This year’s theme of October 10, World Mental Health Day, which was first announced on 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health, is determined as “Teenagers in a Changing World and Their Mental Health”.

Why is the mental health of teenagers important?

Factors such as peer victimization in childhood and adolescence, increased time on the internet, playing computer games with violent effects affect the mental health of teenagers and this affect their future closely. Being prepared for all kinds of threats, particularly addictions, is made possible by the families’ and teachers awareness on this subject as well as being knowledgeable about teenagers.

Aimed to create awareness 

Üsküdar University and its application partner NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital, which works on community health, is implementing a new awareness-raising movement in order to raise awareness of possible dangers such as addiction, physical and emotional violence as well as the improvement and protection of teenagers’ mental health.

Awareness video is prepared

An awareness video was also prepared in this context in which Üsküdar University staff and children played a role. The video emphasizes the abuse of the Internet and its impending danger.

A panel will be organized with University and Hospital cooperation 

A panel will be organized in Üsküdar University within the scope of October 10, World Mental Health Day.

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan will address the digitalizing generation.

Üsküdar University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty Member Prof. Hüsnü Erkmen will be the moderator of the panel. Üsküdar University President, Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan will give a speech on “Digitalized generation and mental control”.

Prof. Nesrin Dilbaz will give a lecture on mental endurance in teenagers

Üsküdar University NPİSTANBUL Brain Hospital AMATEM Coordinator and Üsküdar University Addiction Application and Research Center Director Prof. Nesrin Dilbaz will give further information about “Mental Endurance in Teenagers”.
