Department of Bioengineering gave its First Graduates!
Üsküdar University gave its first graduates in the 2019-2020 Spring term from Department of Bioengineering Master’s Degree Program within Üsküdar University Institute which started to accept students in the 2018-2019 academic year by continuing to produce science during the pandemic.
Head of the Bioengineering Department and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Asst. Prof. İlknur Korkmaz, who completed her thesis under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Tuba Sevimoğlu, successfully presented her thesis titled "Investigation of Common Genetic Mechanisms of Cerebral Palsy, Adrenoleukodystrophy and Parkinson's Diseases with a Bioinformatics Approach".
Başak Demir is another name who completed her thesis studies under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Tuba Sevimoğlu and Demir presented her thesis titled "Determination of Candidate Agent Molecules in Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder and Depression Disease Proteins by Repositioning Method".
Deputy Director of Protein Application and Research Center (PROMER) and Bioengineering Department Asst. Prof. İbrahim Barış Ölüç, who completed his thesis under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Vildan Enisoğlu Atalay, successfully presented his thesis titled "Determination of Antioxidant Activity of Hazelnut Fruit with Computational Chemistry Methods". Moreover, Ceren Kaya, under the consultancy of Dr. Atalay, successfully presented her thesis titled "Investigation of the Coupling Method of Par1 and Par4 Genes and Anticoagulant Drug Interactions and Designing Possible More Active Drug Molecules".
Yıldız Technical University, Department of Chemistry Prof. Lokman Torun also participated in the thesis presentations as an external jury member.
The thesis presentations ended with a souvenir photo by the graduates.
