Within the scope of December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities and December 10, World Human Rights Day, an online conference titled "Strategies for Combating Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities in the Context of Human Rights" was held by Üsküdar University Human Rights Studies Application and Research Center (İHAMER) and the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye (TİHEK). It was emphasized that people with disabilities should have equal rights.
The event was moderated by Üsküdar University Human Rights Studies Application and Research Center (İHAMER) Director Prof. Ebulfez Süleymanlı.
TİHEK Assistant Specialist Ayşe Begüm Başbozkurt took part in the event as a speaker.

In his speech, Başbozkurt first touched upon the legislation of TİHEK and touched on the types of discrimination and the foundations of discrimination. Stating that the concept of disability rights covers the fundamental human rights of disabled individuals such as the right to life, education and health, Başbozkurt stated that the convention that regulates these rights in the most comprehensive way is the 'International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities' within the UN. Stating that this convention aims to ensure that people with disabilities have equal rights without being discriminated against, Başbozkurt stated that it also stipulates some principles for equal access to rights.

Stating that discrimination is the most common situation that disabled people are exposed to, Başbozkurt talked about the importance of reasonable arrangements to ensure equal access to the rights of disabled people and presented examples.

At the conference attended by the students of Üsküdar University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Faculty of Communication, Prof. Ebulfez Süleymanlı shared the information that as Üsküdar University, information and awareness activities in the field of human rights will continue with TİHEK.
