Under the leadership of Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports Department (HCS), Üsküdar University Student Clubs organized the "Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza Symposium". The symposium drew attention to the effects of Israel's attacks on Gaza. President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, who made the opening speech of the symposium, said that this war will expose the hypocrites and said that genocide has been carried out in the region for 40 days and that the world still plays the role of deaf and mute in the face of what is happening.

Within the scope of the symposium organized by 11 clubs from Üsküdar University at the Central Campus Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall, a charity sale was also organized to help Gaza.

In addition to students from different universities and civilians, Nevzat Duyar, President of the Confederation of Black Sea Non-Governmental Organizations (KASTOP), and Faruk Çakmak, President of the Federation of Düzce Associations, also participated in the symposium.

Ayşegül Tunçer: "This oppression in Gaza has been going on for 75 years"

In the opening speeches of the symposium, President of Üsküdar University Red Crescent Club Ayşegül Tunçer had the floor on behalf of the student clubs. Stating that this oppression in Gaza has been going on for 75 years, Tunçer noted that they organized the symposium with the motto "Don't Let Humanity Die in the World" to bring this crisis to academic chairs.

Mustafa Şanverdi: "We are here not to remain silent about the drama in Palestine"

Representative of the 'Let Humanity Not Die in the World Platform 'Mustafa Şanverdi stated that they are working to make the screams heard in the world where a heavy silence prevails. Şanverdi stated that "We have gathered here today with a deep sorrow in our hearts and a determined hope. As Üsküdar University, the 'Don't Let Humanity Die in the World' platform, which we have created with our 11 student clubs, is not just a name; It is a chain of hearts with which we share pains, hopes and common human values. In our world where there is a heavy silence, we are working to make these cries heard. We are here not to remain silent about the tragedy in Palestine."

Asst. Prof. Hamza Abunima: "Everything was planned, and nothing happened by mistake"

Üsküdar University Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Asst. Prof. Hamza Abunima described how he felt as a Palestinian. Attending the symposium with their children, Asst. Prof. Abunima stated that "I was born, raised, lived in Gaza... I am honored to have you here. We are here for Palestine because Israel is committing a genocide in Palestine. We came here to show our solidarity. I do not know what to say because hospitals are being bombed, children are being killed, and I believe that actions are more effective than words. They do everything by planning and nothing happened by mistake. The problem here is not religion, language, race, they are just stealing everything, they are stealing our homeland, our homeland. Israel is not only a Jewish country, but America is there and governs it. They are constantly doing things that disturb our peace and putting pressure on us. Even the Jewish people are standing with us, and they have shown their stance. That is why the real Jewish people stand with us and support us."

Prof. İsmail Barış: "We must sacrifice our joys in order to build our spiritual pulpit there"

Drawing attention to the fact that Türkiye has a geography of hearts as in all countries, Üsküdar University Advisor to the Rector Prof. İsmail Barış stated that "Like all countries, our country has a geography of hearts. Apart from 780 thousand square meters, we have a geography of hearts maybe more than that. Samarkand, Bosnia, Jerusalem, Hashem and Gaza are our hearts. In order for our hearts to be happy and content, the lives, property, and lands of the people living in these cities must be safe. God has given very important tasks to some communities and some nations. One of them is Türkiye. It is our country. From our past to the present, we must keep alive the consciousness and consciousness of being able to experience this feeling and make it live in the world, this consciousness that Allah has given us as a duty. Therefore, we need to catch the consciousness and consciousness of everyone, like Nurettin Zengi, the three rulers of the Seljuks, to have the pulpit built there immediately after the conquest of Jerusalem. Nurettin Zengi had it built, the Emir of Aleppo had it built from 12 thousand trees without nails, 'I will conquer Jerusalem and place this pulpit in Masjid al-Aqsa.' but the pulpit was placed by Saladin Ayyubi, who became the sultan after him. In 2007, that pulpit was repaired again because a fanatic tried to burn down the mosque and that pulpit was also damaged. Our material pulpit is there, but it is necessary to be able to build the spiritual pulpit of our hearts there, to put it there and glorify the name of Allah on it. In order to shout out Islam, right, law and humanity, to shout justice, honesty and equity to the world, we must build our pulpits first in our hearts, then in our pockets, then by sacrificing our pleasures."

Prof. Mehmet Zelka: "The world that does not react means that it is dead"

Within the scope of the opening speeches, Üsküdar University Advisor to the Rector Prof. Mehmet Zelka emphasized that a genocide is currently being watched by the world and made the following remarks: "Unfortunately, we are spectators of an unexpected massacre. The first war in the world to be broadcast live was the invasion in 1991. This is taking place in the form of a live genocide being watched by the world. Let's put an exclamation point next to the development and civilization of the whole world, which is described as developed. The civilized world, the Western world, as well as the worse of the rulers in the Islamic world, which is located in our immediate geography and in our heartland, because their people have different feelings and thoughts. Their insensitivity to this issue is seriously thought-provoking. Recently, contrary to the thoughts of its leaders, there have been quite large reactions in the Western world in America, England, France, Greece and our nearby geography. It was not possible for these reactions not to happen, because according to the figures currently determined, there are over 11 thousand martyrs. According to our belief, martyrs go to heaven. They will go to heaven without question. They are alive, and they are being provided for, but I guess the world that is unresponsive outside of them is dead."

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan: "The world still plays the role of deaf and mute"

President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, who had the floor as part of the opening speeches of the symposium, expressed that it was the fortieth day of the genocide. Stating that the world still plays the role of deaf and mute, Tarhan said; "In particular, the ruling powers, global capital and now humanity are going through such a test that this test will distinguish between good and bad, right and wrong, ethical and unethical, sincere and unethical, civilized and uncivilized like a litmus paper. For this reason, it is their test that our brothers and sisters there are in such resistance, but our test is to be on the side of the good, the right, the beautiful and the right in such a situation. For this reason, I would like to state that we are in a position to do our part in this exam. In particular, the following situation is important... There is a serious state here, there is a Palestinian state. Although some do not recognize it, it is a state with clear borders. This can be compared to our War of Independence in 1915. What was in the War of Independence? In a place that has been a homeland of 500-600 years in Anatolia, there is a landing from İzmir. When there is a sticker, there is a 2-way all-out struggle there. Military struggle is not enough, a stance to be made only by soldiers is not enough, total civil resistance is required."

“What this will does is a struggle."

Pointing out that there is a will within the borders of Palestine and Gaza that tries to remove the people living in the lands where they were born, Tarhan said that "The Mufti of Denizli, Ahmet Hulusi Efendi, gathers all the people after the prayer. It happens on May 15, 1919. He says, 'Everyone should take a stone in their hands,' and throws the stone towards İzmir. The equivalent of this in psychological warfare is 'Civil resistance’. In other words, it creates awareness there, a civil resistance movement that makes people aware of the cruelty and injustice committed in such an event is already starting. Before the Sivas congress and the Erzurum congresses, Çerkez Ethem, whom everyone knew wrongly, and many İzmir people in that region were the first to stop them. They were the ones who stopped that struggle. Ahmet Hulusi Efendi has a serious role to play here. That is why we owe a lot to those people. In the same situation, there is a will within the borders of Palestine and Gaza that tries to expel the people living in the land where they were born. What this will is doing is a struggle, and they are doing this struggle on religious grounds, which we are witnesses to. They are already getting the moral reward for this. There is such a serious resistance. These resistances are very difficult, but they should not despair, they should be highly motivated, they stopped the huge global powers by saying, 'Where do they come from all over the world, why do not they accept defeat, why do not they walk away?', and I hope they will be even more successful there."

Tarhan: "War will expose hypocrites..."

Stating that this war will expose the hypocrites and that they are with those who are fighting in Palestine in heart, soul and deed, Tarhan noted that victory will be with those who are patient. Within the scope of the symposium, Üsküdar University Department of Political Science and International Relations Asst. Prof. Fehmi Ağca gave a lecture on "Ethics of War in Terms of International Law", Member of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Atorney Gülden Sönmez delivered a speech on "The Role of International Organizations in the Palestinian Issue", Üsküdar University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Software Engineering, Asst.
