They had the opportunity to get to know orthotic products one-on-one

Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Program organized an event called "Lower Extremity Ready-to-Use Orthotic Products". Orthotist Prosthetist Selçuk Sunar attended the event. Sunar told the students about his experiences in the sector. At the event, students had the opportunity to experience the products one-on-one.

The event took place at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus.

The event was attended by Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Program Head Instructor Kübra Akkalay, Orthotist Practitioner Selçuk Sunar, academicians and students attended.

Orthotist Prosthetist Selçuk Sunar: "Using shoes larger than the foot size causes problems in the foot structure"

Orthotist Prosthetist Selçuk Sunar said that attention should be paid to the softness of silicone products. Sunar stated that "Products should be soft because when they are worn, they act as a buffer between the skin and the shoe. The use of insoles in children shoes is not very long-lasting, insoles need to be changed regularly because children are constantly growing. In addition, using shoes larger than the foot size causes problems in the foot structure."

"We focus on preventing the progression of the disease by maintaining the status quo"

Referring to foot problems experienced in advanced ages, Selçuk Sunar said that "The tissues under the feet of individuals aged 70 and over suffer serious fluid loss. When touched, the skin collapses at the point where you press with your finger and cannot return to its former form. The bones are prominent and weakened. In such cases, we focus on preventing the progression of the disease by maintaining the status quo. We adopt this approach in all our products and act in line with this expectation."

Giving examples from his experiences, Sunar stated that sometimes they can witness a patient's first stand up.

Students had the opportunity to experience orthotic products one-on-one and had the opportunity to have detailed information about each product.

Later, Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Program Head Instructor Kübra Akkalay presented a certificate of appreciation to Orthotist Practitioner Selçuk Sunar and the event ended after a group photo shoot.
