Future physiotherapists wore their white coats at the ceremony

Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation students experienced the excitement of wearing white coats. The families of the students also showed great interest in the traditional white coat ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Prof. Deniz Demirci expressed that "The white coat is symbolized by our profession and has now become a symbol. We hand over your white coats as a symbol of your responsibility to serve all people regardless of religion, language or race. It is a privilege to wear this white coat, never let it get dirty." At the ceremony, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation student Muhammed Emin Kılay, who lost his life, was not forgotten. Kılay white coat was handed over to friends and family.

The ceremony, which was held at Üsküdar University NP Health Campus İbn-i Sina Auditorium, attracted great attention. After the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the reciting of the National Anthem, a music concert was performed by the students of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.

Later, the opening speeches were made by Prof. Deniz Demirci, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Üsküdar University, Sıla Merve Adak, a second-year student of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, and Meral Aydın and Amin Daneshfar, third-year students.

The white coat ceremony was attended by Advisor to the Rector Prof. Mehmet Zelka, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Üsküdar University Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Prof. Deniz Demirci, Head of the Department of Perfusion Asst. Prof. Zehra Akgün, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Assoc. Prof. Müge Arslan and faculty academicians.

Prof. Deniz Demirci: "It is a privilege to wear this white coat"

Emphasizing that health is one of the most important factors that determine the quality of life of a person, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Prof. Deniz Demirci stated that "The most basic expression of a healthy life is the state of feeling good mentally and physically. The aim of restoring the functions of the limbs that are completely or partially dysfunctional due to inadequacies, and injuries that may occur congenitally, later and at any point of life is the basis of the principle of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. We, as Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, continue our education with great devotion without sacrificing quality to raise students who can use their professional knowledge at the highest level, prioritize scientific values, adopt their professions and diseases as a principle, serve their patients in the best way, are open to innovation, hungry for knowledge, equipped and self-confident. The white coat is symbolized by our profession and has now become a symbol. We hand over your white coats as a symbol of your responsibility to serve all people regardless of religion, language or race. It is a privilege to wear this white coat, never let it get dirty."

Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin: "Human life has been extended, and physical therapy and rehabilitation are in great need"

Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin said that the need for physical therapy and rehabilitation increases with the prolongation of human life. Ertekin stated that "Wearing a white coat is a great privilege in the field of health. It is a period of time that gives people the right and the ability to touch. From now on, you will be an employee of the health army. You will support people in their most difficult and troubled periods. When we look at it as a branch and department, human life has been extended, physical therapy and rehabilitation are very needed. Especially today, artificial intelligence has evolved. The pride and pride of being able to lift and walk a person who cannot move at all with various electronic methods is truly unbelievable. In this school, you will find areas of practice on this subject, and I believe that you will be very good and competent people in your profession."

Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Prof. Deniz Demirci expressed her condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased student and handed over the white coat of Muhammed Emin Kılay, who was Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation student, to his friends and family.
