'Student Participation in Higher Education Quality Assurance' seminar was held

Üsküdar University Graduate School of Health Sciences held a seminar on "Student Participation in Higher Education Quality Assurance" for graduate students with the participation of Gizem Şahin, who is President of the Quality Club and Member of the Student Commission of the Higher Education Quality Council. The aim of the seminar was to encourage the participation of graduate students in quality studies and to provide information about quality processes.

What needs to be done in higher education institutions was explained

In the online seminar, what needs to be done in higher education institutions within the scope of quality assurance studies was explained. It was emphasized that higher education institutions should set targets for the establishment of an internal quality assurance system, implement applications for the determined targets, and carry out monitoring and follow-up studies in line with these practices. It was stated that the first systematic work in the field of higher education quality assurance started with the Bologna process, which our country joined in 2001.

The Bologna process was discussed

In the seminar, graduate students were informed about the objectives of the Bologna process, such as the application of the diploma supplement, which offers an easy-to-understand and comparable system in the creation of higher education diplomas and degrees, and the mutual recognition of the qualifications and learning periods obtained abroad.

Being involved in quality processes increases communication skills...

The seminar also focused on the evaluation programs carried out by the Higher Education Quality Council, which monitors the education, research activities and administrative services of universities in accordance with national and international quality standards. It was emphasized that employment opportunities of students increased after graduation, and scholarship and financial support opportunities increased with accredited programs.

It was stated that students can be involved in issues such as the design and updating of graduate programs to spread the quality culture in quality processes, and it was also stated that students' social and cultural awareness can be improved, communication skills and quality of education can be increased by being involved in quality processes.
