Burak Çeber, a faculty member of the Department of Advertising at Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication, met with students from Zeynep Kamil Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. Çeber explained the importance of conscious technology usage to the students and stated that technology should be used for production purposes rather than consumption. Çeber also shared measures that could be taken against digital threats.

Çeber also pointed out the importance of increasing the use of technology for production purposes instead of consumption.

In the seminar, important topics related to today's digital threats were discussed. Çeber highlighted issues such as data theft, privacy violations, cyberbullying, gaming addiction, cyber fraud, and manipulation. Çeber also shared a practical example about cyber fraud.

How can we protect ourselves from dangers in the digital world?

Çeber shared measures that could be taken both individually and at a societal level to protect against dangers in the digital world as follows:

On a Micro Level:

• Optimizing phone and application privacy settings,

• Using strong passwords,

• Not sharing personal information and location,

• Avoiding suspicious emails and messages,

• Regularly checking digital footprints.

On a Macro Level:

• Increasing media literacy,

• Developing awareness of technological developments,

• Increasing education and events on such topics can protect against dangers.

Çeber emphasized that virtual characters created on social media should be protected as carefully as real characters and stressed the importance of strong media literacy for a conscious digital life.
