Üsküdar University ranks first in the SCIMAGO "Societal Impact" Ranking
Üsküdar University has achieved another important success among international universities in research, innovation and societal impact rankings. According to the ranking carried out on the Scimago Rankings Scopus database, Üsküdar University entered the ranking as the 4th foundation university in Türkiye in 2023 with the Societal Impact of the scientific outputs and managed to rank first as a university with the most development in Türkiye. At the same time, Üsküdar University ranked third in Türkiye with its studies in the field of basic sciences.

Üsküdar University has managed to rank first as the most developed university in Türkiye, as well as entering the ranking as the fourth foundation university in Türkiye in 2023 with the Societal Impact of the scientific outputs produced.
At the same time, Üsküdar University, which contributes to the production of new knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations, the participation of women in research processes and the use of scientific studies in the creation or improvement of public policies, ranked third with its studies in the fields of medicine, psychiatry, psychology, biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, while in Türkiye with its studies in the field of basic sciences.
Üsküdar became the second foundation university with the most development
Üsküdar University, which carries out scientific activities for university-industry-public-society cooperation with the mission of producing knowledge with the society, not producing information for the society, was previously in the top 10 of foundation universities in Türkiye in the "Research Index" ranking as of 2022, and became the second most developed foundation university in 2022 with its remarkable development in the innovation index, and became the second most effective university with its studies in the field of basic sciences.
What is Scimago Rankings?
SCImago Journal & Country Rank is a ranking method developed from information in the Scopus® database (Elsevier B.V.) that combines three key indicators: research performance, innovation outputs, and web visibility and societal impact. The following rankings included in the SCIMAGO ranking, which evaluates many institutions, especially research universities, with the evaluation methodology announced every year in advance are as follows:
• While the Research Ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the research output of the institution,
• The Innovation Ranking is calculated based on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations of the research outputs from the patents. (PATSTATS-Worldwide Patent Statistical Database)
• Societal Impact Ranking is based on the number of pages of the organization's website and the number of feedback and mentions from social networks. (PlumX metrics & Mendeley)
The main metrics used when based on the Scimago societal impact score are as follows:
- Altmetrics (AM): this indicator has two components:
PlumX Metrics (weight: 70%): It refers to the frequency of mentions of Üsküdar University scientific activities in PlumX Metrics, social media accounts, blogs and news sites.
Mendeley (weight: 30%): Refers to the number of documents related to the scientific activities of Üsküdar University in Mendeley, which is an online library.
- Sustainable Development Goals: (SDG) Tracks the number of documents related to the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations.
- Female Scientific Talent Pool: (FemSTP) refers to the number of different female authors of scientific articles from an institution.
- Impact in public policy- Overton (OV): Refers to the number of institution documents referenced in policy documents according to the Overton database.
- Web size (WS): Refers to the number of pages associated with Üsküdar University's website, according to Google.
- Authority Score (AScore): It is a composite metric developed to measure the overall quality and SEO performance of a website. It basically tracks link strength, organic traffic, and spam factors.
