Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety students visited TENMAK

Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program first and second year students visited the Nuclear Energy Research Institute of the Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mining Research Council (TENMAK). Head of Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program Instructor Dilek Aker and VSHS Deputy Director Asst. Prof. Feride Kulalı Özdek and the group of students had the opportunity to see the TR-2 Research Reactor, Radiobiology Unit and Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory, which are among the most comprehensive nuclear facilities in Türkiye.

The students of the Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program were accompanied by the Head of the Program Instructor Dilek Aker and the Deputy Director of VSHS Asst. Prof. Feride Kulalı Özdek, and they had a technical trip to Küçükçekmece TENMAK.

Within the scope of the trip, the students had the opportunity to see the TR-2 Research Reactor, Radiobiology Unit and Secondary Standard Dosimetry Laboratory, which are among the most comprehensive nuclear facilities in Türkiye.

TR-2 operators answered students' questions

In line with the establishment objectives of the TR-2 Research Reactor, it is stated that it is

ready to start operating primarily for the maintenance of the experience and capability gained in the field of nuclear technology, to follow the developments at the international level and to keep the relations up-to-date, to evaluate the research, development and production opportunities in this field in accordance with the changing radioisotope supply and demand in the world and in our country, and to provide all kinds of on-the-job training that may be needed in the nuclear field..

Internship training is given to university students

On-the-job training of reactor operator personnel and radiation protection personnel who will work at TENMAK Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mining Research Council (NÜKEN) and internship training of university students studying related subjects are provided. In this context, Üsküdar University Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety program students also have the opportunity to perform voluntary summer internships.
