Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports Department Young Medical Students Club organized an event titled "From Medical Remedy to Spiritual Remedy". The event was attended by Surgeon Salih Selman as a guest. Selman emphasized the importance of being thankful when a person is happy and well, instead of turning to Allah only when there is distress and. Stating that Islam is a religion of unity, Selman stated that "If we live according to the wishes of the Qur'an and the wishes of Allah, we all will be happy.”

The event, which took place at Üsküdar University NP Health Campus İbn-i Sina Auditorium, attracted great interest from external participants, especially faculty academics and students.

Mehmet Hamza Budulgan: "We have established this community to create sincerity"

President of the Young Medical Students Club Mehmet Hamza Budulgan made the opening speech of the event. Budulgan stated that "Our aim is to provide an environment where physician candidates can create a sincere brotherhood with each other beyond the understanding of colleagues. Our work has always been aimed at this. Our main goal is to create a sense of sincerity in terms of investing in ourselves in the future, beyond our colleagues. While doing these, we have established this community not for benefit, but to mingle with each other and to create a sincerity."

Surgeon Salih Salman: "Those who turn to Allah will surely be provided for..."

Explaining how a person's relationship with God should be, Surgeon Salih Selman expressed that "We want a complete life, we want to have everything within our arm’s reach. When there is distress, we turn to God. In sickness and distress, we turn to God. A prophet is surprised by the abundant livelihood of Mary. He is surprised and wonders where it came from. However, Mary does not seek livelihood. She devoted her life to the worship of God. If you invest in the afterlife and not in the world, you can have livelihood in this world that no one else can obtain. The verse says, 'Those who turn to Allah will surely be provided for.'"

"It is very important to see trouble as a test and show patience"

Talking about how to react in the face of trouble, Surgeon Salih Selman said that "Professionals who turn to God talk among themselves. These people are Hasan al-Basri, İbrahim ibn Adham, Sufyan al-Thawri and Rābiʼa al-ʼAdawiyya al-Qaysiyya. They say, 'What should be the reaction of a person to Allah not to make a mistake in servitude when Allah sends a calamity?' When we are healthy, and we are in a normal state, but reactions can vary depending on the degree of difficulty.

Sufyan al-Thawri says, 'I rejoice in trouble because Allah remembers me and tests me. When a challenge occurs, I will be patient right away.'

Rābiʼa al-ʼAdawiyya al-Qaysiyya says, "I am not only patient but also thankful."

Hasan al-Basri says, 'I am patient, I am grateful, and I am glad of this challenge. God is with me.'

İbrahim ibn Adham says, "After turning to Allah with everything, does a person mind the sour, the sweet, the bad or the good?"

It is very important to see challenges as a test and show patience."

"Islam is a religion to live together"

Pointing out that Islam is a religion of unity, Dr. Salman stated that "If we know today's gratitude, if we are good servants of God, we will live in a better environment. Islam is a religion to be lived together. A football match is played with 11 people, the goalkeeper is indispensable, the defense is indispensable, and these are all together. If we all live according to the wishes of the Qur'an and Allah, we will be happy together. May Allah grant you to be one of those who work for those days. If you are a doctor, you will do the duty assigned to you properly, if you are a Muslim, you will command good, you will discourage evil, and you will be in such a society."

"If you look in a beautiful manner, you will see beautiful things"

Talking about the problems that people experience when they fall into a void and drawing attention to the importance of continuity while doing a task, Surgeon Salih Selman stated that "If you look beautiful, you will see beautiful things. If you look at what God will teach me, if you think well, you will learn from events. There is nothing we cannot do, as long as we know what God will ask us to do. It is hard to get started, but it will definitely get easier. If you continue a task, you will definitely want to do it after a while. When you fall into the void, the brain immediately becomes lazy. The soul immediately weakens, and the goal disappears immediately."

At the end of the event, flowers were presented to Surgeon Salih Selman by the Young Medical Students Club.

Later, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Basic Medical Sciences faculty member Prof. Mevlüt Sait Keleş presented a plaque to Surgeon Salih Selman.

The event ended after a group photo shoot.
