Being the first Turkish University among the institutions designated as a Center of Excellence by UNESCO TWAS, Üsküdar University hosts many international students on its campuses. Many researchers carry out their scientific studies within the scope of postgraduate education in the laboratories of Üsküdar University, TWAS Center of Excellence, determined with the support of TÜBİTAK.

Countries designated as Centers of Excellence include China, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mexico, the Philippines and Taiwan.

Being Türkiye's first thematic university in the field of Behavioral Sciences and Health, Üsküdar University designated as a center of excellence by UNESCO for its studies in the fields of Neurobiology, Cognitive Medicine and Brain Research, carries out its scientific studies within the scope of postgraduate education at TWAS Centers of Excellence determined with the support of TÜBİTAK.

Students benefit from Üsküdar University laboratories and research opportunities.

The 3-month scholarship support provided by TÜBITAK was increased to 36 months with the initiative of Üsküdar University within the scope of the program created to provide equal opportunities to everyone within the framework of UNESCO. Researchers are now supported for longer periods of time.

In this way, students have the opportunity to stay longer in Türkiye and continue their studies.

Üsküdar University Vice Rector Prof. Muhsin Konuk said that cultural bridges are being established and networks are increasing with the studies carried out. Konuk expressed that many researchers from different countries were hosted at Üsküdar University, thanks to the programs attended by students from developing countries.

What is TWAS?

Üsküdar University is the first university chosen by The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) as a center of excellence in Türkiye.

TWAS is an organization established by UNESCO to ensure that developing countries advance in science. For this purpose, it determines the institutions and organizations with advanced infrastructure selected by them as "centers of excellence" and selects the young and bright minds of developing countries and provides their education in centers of excellence.
