Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication, Visual Communication Design Department visited the 42nd Graphic Design Exhibition prepared by the Graphic Designers Professional Organization (GMK) within the scope of the Design Workshop. The 42nd Graphic Design Exhibition, which has been held since 1981, was attended by faculty members and students of the Department of Visual Communication Design.

Students showed great interest in the event, which was organized under the leadership of Head of the Visual Communication Design Department Prof. And Algül.

Designs were included in 25 categories...

The exhibition, which was held at Marmara University Acıbadem University GSF Main Gallery, included designs in 25 categories, from posters to books, from moving images to social media applications.

It is important to set out for success...

In the exhibition, while the instructors of the Visual Communication Design Department were examining the works, the students were often reminded of the main idea that "Each of the works here is technically capable of doing; however, it is necessary to set out for this."

Within the scope of the trip, students had the opportunity to make in-depth examinations of the award-winning works published in the field of Visual Communication Design since September 2022. At the same time, students had the opportunity to think about how the trainings received in the courses could be transformed into outputs in an applied field.

The students who participated in the exhibition were motivated for these and similar exhibitions and competitions that could make their names mentioned in the sector during their academic life.

In this context, it was emphasized that such exhibitions can be a source of inspiration for the students of the Visual Communication Design Department to present works that can be sent for the GMK Graphic Design Exhibition to be held in 2024 and to participate in various competitions.

Winners were rewarded

The 'Graphic Design Awards', which are a source of encouragement and motivation for the young names of the profession in the exhibition organized under the main sponsorship of Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi, found their owners at the award ceremony held at the opening.

In the competition, which aims to determine the most qualified and good works of the year among the 450 designs submitted to the application for awards, GMK design awards and 6 special awards were given in 25 categories.
