Dakka University committee visited Üsküdar University



The President of Bangladesh’s Dhaka University, Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Islamic University and Chittaqong University faculty members visited Üsküdar University.

The President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Vice President Prof. Mehmet Zelka, President of Dhaka University Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Islamic and Chittaqong University faculty members exchanged ideas about future collaborations in education and health.

President Prof. Nevzat Tarhan notified the guests at the University’s senate room about Üsküdar University’s 19 thousand students, 7 years of experience, the curriculum and contents of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Communication. In addition, Prof. Tarhan provided further information about the Faculty of Medicine that will be facilitated soon as well as the NPİSTANBUL Brain hospital and Medical Centers.

“We aim to cooperate with countries that we are close with.”

Tarhan, who stated that he believes that Islamic unity has to start culturally, also stated that the political relations will occur only after the cultural and social cooperation is actualized and the universities hold the biggest responsibility in this. Prof. Nevzat Tarhan who aims to cooperate with the countries that are close to us stated that the differences between the Muslims should be put aside and that the cooperation should be made on the common aspects of the Muslims.

“The friendship needs to be consolidated.”

Prof. Akhtaruzzaman shared information about Dakka University in his speech. He gave information on the faculties and institutes opened in Dakka University throughout its history. He mentioned that there is a Modern Language Institute at Dhaka University and Turkish teachers were positioned by the Turkish embassy in this institute to teach Turkish. Prof. Akhtaruzzaman added that in the last period of the Ottoman Empire, the challenges were faced with prayers in mosques every day, the aids were sent to meet a number of needs, friendship relations were based on very old ties and that the friendship needs to be consolidated through the universities.

Üsküdar University Vice President Prof. Mehmet Zelka mentioned that he has worked with Prof. Nevzat Tarhan for 47 years that includes before and during the establishment of Üsküdar University and emphasized the richness of this relationship. Prof. Zelka shared the academic data of Üsküdar University.

Prof. Zelka said that there are about 60 foundation universities in Turkey and that Üsküdar University is a foundation university. Prof. Zelka said that Üsküdar University aims to develop students not only in science but also in spiritual and social life and this has transformed into a mission.

Prof. Mehmet Zelka said the following, “Our main goal is to train students in the spiritual field. We attach great importance to spiritual development given the moral corruption happening in the world at this period. We always feel this huge responsibility on our shoulders.”
