USA gave green light to CRISPR-Cas9 organized by Üsküdar University!United States National Institute of Health Advisory Committee has approved the proposal of using the CRISPR-Cas9 technique, based on improving cancer therapies with T cells of voluntary patients. Üsküdar University held the first CRISPR-Cas9 practical workshop in Turkey during the last weeks, and is currently preparing to hold the second workshop in September. Thus Üsküdar University is aiming to teach the method to Turkish scientists in practical terms.

After explaining the CRISPR-Cas9 method to the Turkish scientists in the first practical workshop in Turkey held by Üsküdar University, there has been a development regarding the method used in the United States. United States gave the green light to the first CRISPR experiment to be conducted. Testing the technique on humans for the first time is expected to take place at the end of this year.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhsin Konuk stated that Üsküdar University is the university that provided the CRISPR/Cas9 system to be taught to the Turkish science community, and with the awareness that this technology will be implemented in the clinic in the U.S. In 2017, the University is proud to introduce this technology to the Turkish science community.

Konuk said that a lot of scientists from different parts of the country attended the practical workshop, and considering the number of applicants, Üsküdar University will continue to provide guidance to the Turkish scientists who demands to learn this technique.

Konuk also mentioned that they will teach the CRISPR/Cas9 technology to our willing scientists through organizing the second workshop at the beginning of September. The aim is to perform the third workshop in the semester.
