The 'Clinical Experiences Series' and the 'Case Analysis Series' initiated by the Üsküdar University Scientific Research Society (BAP), Clinical and Surgical Sciences Department are welcomed with interest by the students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Clinical and Surgical Sciences Working Branch team enables students to gain experience in clinical life with the activities they organize. Experts participating in the events share the knowledge they have gained in their professional lives by telling the physician candidates about the events and interesting cases they may experience in their careers.

At the event held at Üsküdar University NP Health Campus Galenos Conference Hall, Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine Head of Basic Sciences Department Prof. Mehmet Yakup Tuna, Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine Head of Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation Prof. Anış Arıboğan and Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine Vice Dean Medical Pathology Department Prof. Aptullah Haholu shared their knowledge and experience with future physicians.

Prof. Mehmet Yakup Tuna: "You need to be curious to learn"

Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine, Head of the Department of Basic Sciences, Prof. Mehmet Yakup Tuna drew attention to the importance of curiosity in the learning process. Prof. Tuna stated that "Learning becomes difficult when you do not wonder. First, you should be curious. When there is no discipline, it does not work, and the first rule is discipline. In the operating room, only the person performing the surgery speaks. While success is always attributed to one person, no one takes the complication on it. In the absence of discipline, complications multiply. Discipline is always essential for success both in life and in the profession."

Prof. Anış Arıboğan: "Try to be a good practitioner before a good specialist"

Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine, Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Prof. Anış Arıboğan reminded in his speech that the first step towards becoming a good specialist is through a strong practitioner. Prof. Arıboğan stated that "A medical staff member needs to help another medical staff member at every opportunity. A physician never undermines another physician. A radiologist cannot mislead an internist. When I first graduated, I was always afraid of not knowing during duty. 'A patient will come, and I will be helpless'. Over time, I have always been on the edge of the business and over the years I have become a good general practitioner and then a good specialist. Try to be a good practitioner before a good specialist."

Considerations in pathology were discussed

Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine Vice Dean and Department of Medical Pathology Lecturer Prof. Aptullah Haholu explained the common mistakes encountered in pathology interpretation and emphasized the points that students should pay attention to in this field. In the event, practical information on histopathological differences between healthy and unhealthy tissues was also shared.
