Prof. Nazife Güngör: "A good teacher needs to communicate very well"
Meeting with the educators, Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör delivered a speech titled "The Power of Classroom Communication: The Key to Learning and Success". Güngör stated that "We have to communicate differently with each individual because each individual comes with a different experience. Then the job of a teacher is quite difficult; therefore, it is called to be the most sacred and the most difficult profession in the world. To communicate with the class, you need to know the character of the group in front of you. In the first lesson, you need to do a character analysis. For the lesson to reach its goal, the teacher must first be able to decipher and analyze the character of the target group. That's why we need to get to know our students in the classroom in the first place. Each individual has a story. It is not possible for us to know the story of each of them in detail, but at least it is useful to have each of our students briefly tell their story and know their stories briefly. Therefore, if a good communicator, a good teacher really wants to do his job well, he needs to communicate very well. At the beginning of communicating, the teacher needs to decipher the character of the group of students to be addressed."
“One of the basic rules of strong communication is equal behavior"
Mentioning that every positive or negative contact made to students will not be forgotten for life, Prof. Nazife Güngör drew attention to the fact that good traces should be left for them. Güngör stated that "Teachers need to know the students they are going to teach, and they should know them so that they can determine the communication style accordingly. Not all of them are the same, so there should be a form of communication accordingly. Students need to be integrated first so that they do not exclude each other. It is necessary to ensure that they are connected and respect each other. That is the fine point here. One has very high self-esteem and the other has low self-esteem. We will try to bring the self-confidence of those two students to the same level. Regardless of the family they come from, everyone is equal here. This should definitely be one of the basic rules of strong communication, friends, and equal behavior. We need to give them the message, 'You are all equal to me,' but we cannot give that message verbally. If we give this message just with words, in that case we would have destruct the message and ruin it thoroughly. However, we should show it by our actions. With every touch, we leave a mark on each of our students. In other words, we should not leave bad traces and not cause bad effects, because every contact we make is carried by them with our words, our physical attention. And they will never forget every contact we have with them throughout their lives.
