The importance of care in nursing and innovative practices were discussed

Within the scope of the nursing week, a symposium on 'The Importance of Care and Innovative Practices in Nursing' was held by Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department. In the symposium, which was attended by nurses who are experts in their fields, the importance of care and economic dimensions of nursing were discussed. In the event, which focused on innovative applications in nursing, attention was also drawn to artificial intelligence technology. In the program, where the impact of digitalization on nursing was also evaluated, student presentations supported by TÜBİTAK were also included.

Department of Nursing Instructor Derya Deniz was the moderator of the event, which was held at Üsküdar University NP Health Campus İbni Sina Auditorium.

Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin: "Nurses are a very important role model in society"

Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin made the opening speech of the program. Ertekin stated that "Nurses are the most important pillar of teamwork in the field of health. If you look at the very beginning of the birth of the health profession, starting with midwifery, followed by a group of nurses and physicians. Nurses are a very important role model in society. They take a very strong stance and I believe that this will never be broken. Because its infrastructure, origin, and rules are very clear. In recent years, the understanding of education and the view of health have changed. Especially with the introduction of computers into our lives and the health sector, perhaps business concerns have started to emerge with the recent introduction of artificial intelligence in many areas. When used positively, it will be extremely smart and powerful transactions.”

Prof. Selma Doğan: "A very special profession that touches the birth and death of human beings"

Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Head of Nursing Department Prof. Selma Doğan made the opening speeches at the symposium. Doğan stated that "Every year, we started to make our voices heard a little stronger. We try to show this power more in our events. Today, the International Nurses Association, as the main representative of the associations of more than 140 countries, wants to identify themes from among the important issues that affect the health of societies at the global level every year and to process these themes. This year's theme is based on the economic power of nursing care with the slogan 'Nurses are Our Future'. Nurses are at the forefront of the most reliable professions. In fact, it is a very special profession that touches the birth and death of man. It is a profession that must be carried out with compassion. Nurses are combative. These developments have been made with great struggles since the past. Nursing will always get better with these efforts."

"The Importance of Caring and Economic Dimension of Nursing" was discussed

The title of the first session of the symposium was "The Importance of Care and Economic Dimension of Nursing". The session was chaired by Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Head of the Department of Nursing Prof. Selma Doğan. Director of Nursing Services at Hacettepe University Adult Hospital and Member of the Board of Directors of THD Dr. Hümeyra Zengin, who participated in the session online, made a presentation titled 'Investment in the Nursing Profession and Its Contribution to the Health Economy'. The other speaker of the session was Acıbadem Healthcare Group Nursing Director Specialist Saliha Koç. Koç shared her presentation titled 'Nursing Care Quality and Economic Dimension' with the participants.

In the 2nd session, the topic of " The Importance of Care in Nursing and Innovative Practices" was discussed. The session was chaired by Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Nursing faculty member Prof. Nurcan Uysal. At the symposium, Kocaeli Health and Technology University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing Prof. Yurdanur Dikmen from Kocaeli made a presentation titled 'Technology and Artificial Intelligence Applications in Nursing Education'. Üsküdar University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, Asst. Prof. Hatice Demirdağ made a presentation titled 'Digitalization and Nursing Care'. Üsküdar University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, Asst. Prof. Elçin Babaoğlu made a presentation titled 'Digital Applications in Psychiatric Care'. Üsküdar University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, Asst. Prof. Aydan Akkurt Yalçıntürk made a presentation titled 'Innovative Approaches in Geriatric and Home Care Practices'. After the presentations, the second session ended.

A musical feast was held...

There was a musical feast at the Nursing Week Symposium held under the title of "The Importance of Care and Innovative Practices in Nursing". Aleyna Dikmedaş, a 4th year student of the Department of Nursing, Simay Boyraz, a 3rd year student, and Berfin İzgi, a 2nd year student, performed live at the event. Students also sung along.

"Nursing Students Project Presentations Supported by TÜBİTAK" was held

In the 3rd and last session of the symposium, "Nursing Students Project Presentations Supported by TÜBİTAK" was held. The session was chaired by Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Nursing Assoc. Prof. Sebahat Ateş.

Bilge Macit, Şevval İrem Dalcalı and Şule Can, who carried out their studies under the title of 'Evaluation of the Attitudes of Individuals Applying to the Hospital Outpatient Clinic Regarding Cancer Screening', presented their studies at the event. It was carried out under the supervision of Instructor Hatice Demirdağ. The presentation of the project at the symposium was made by Şevval İrem Dalcalı.

Öykü Ergül, who carried out her studies under the title of 'Preoperative Pain Beliefs in Surgical Patients and the Relationship of Surgical Fear with Postoperative Pain', presented her project. It was carried out under the supervision of Instructor Hatice Demirdağ. Ergül shared her project with the participants.

Berna Can, Reyhan Orhan, Tabarek Alobaidi, who carried out their studies under the title of 'Obstacles for Nurses to Provide Individualized Care', carried out their studies under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Sebahat Ateş. The presentation of the project at the symposium was made by Berna Can.

Ümran Yılmaz, Halis Kara, Fatma Sema Boncuk and Edanur Emir, who carried out their studies under the title of "The Effect of Peer Guidance in Nursing Skills Education on Students' Learning Perception and Skill Application Success: Randomized Controlled Trial", carried out their studies under the supervision of Prof. Nurcan Uysal. The presentation of the project at the symposium was made by Ümran Yılmaz.

Ecrin Babur, Onur Taş and Malika Jorayeva, who carried out their studies under the title of 'The Effect of Human Values of Generation Z Nursing Students on Gaining Professional Values', carried out their studies under the supervision of Prof. Nurcan Uysal. The presentation of the project at the symposium was made by Ecrin Babur.

The event ended with a group photo shoot after the presentation of certificates of appreciation.
