Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Program organized an event titled "CV Preparation and Interview Techniques" within the scope of the University culture course. Üsküdar University VSHS Medical Promotion and Marketing Program Head Asst. Prof. Damla Yılmazoğlu participated in the event. Yılmazoğlu emphasized that a person should evaluate what their weaknesses and deficiencies are and take steps in this direction before starting their business life.

Students showed great interest in the event, which took place at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus Emirnebi Conference Hall. The event was moderated by Vocational School of Health Services Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Program Head Instructor Kübra Akkalay.

"You should be prepared before the interview"

Drawing attention to how the participants should behave before going to the job interview, Asst. Prof. Damla Yılmazoğlu stated that "When you are called for a job interview, you must go prepared. Before the interview, you should research detailed information about the company you will go to the interview. Try to gather information about the corporate culture of the company. Learning about the company will also refresh your self-confidence. Therefore, this situation also causes your excitement to decrease in front of the interviewer. For this reason, it is very important for you to learn about the company."

When appropriate, questions should be asked...

Emphasizing that a job interview is not just a process in which the employer asks questions, and the interviewee answers the questions, Yılmazoğlu stated that "When appropriate, you will ask the employer the questions you are curious about. You can ask the employer about the working conditions and the opportunities of the employees; however, please avoid of asking a question such as how much you plan to pay for this position as soon as the interview is over. It would not be the right move to ask questions about the wage you will receive in the first meeting."

It is very important to transfer theoretical and practical knowledge to the employer!

Mentioning that it is important to transfer the theoretical and practical knowledge learned during the interview to the employer, Yılmazoğlu expressed that "Keep the notes of the relevant course, even if you have passed the academic, theoretical and practical information you learned during school. Repeat them when necessary because these may come across as technical questions in the interview."

Rehearsing dampens the excitement

Yılmazoğlu gave advice to those who will participate in the interview and stated that "On the day of the interview, you are expected by the employer to stick to the interview time. Do not be there two hours before the interview, nor be fifteen or twenty minutes late. Considering the traffic, it will be sufficient to be at the interview place ten to fifteen minutes before the interview. It is not right to go to the interview without eating, be sure to eat something and go. In the interview, you need to look energetic, dynamic and confident. The field you are applying for may not be a head office unit, but regardless of the position, pay close attention to the outfit you go to the interview with so that the other party perceives you professionally. It can be a reasonably high heel, far from exaggerated hair and exaggerated makeup. It is said that a light nail polish leaves a good mark on the employer. It is advisable to go to the interview in a classic-looking way. Male candidates should also be far from marginal appearance and should have their hair and beard shaved. Putting a key on the table where the interview is held, putting a phone or a wallet on the table are behaviors that take you away from professionalism. The more you rehearse, the more you will overcome your excitement for the interview. Thus, rehearse in front of the mirror."

The event ended with a group photo shoot after the presentation of the certificate of appreciation.
