Tarhan responded to the allegations by HZİ Foundation on a live broadcast!
President of Üsküdar University Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan was the live broadcast guest of the 'Balçiçek İlter İle Şimdi' program presented by Balçiçek İlter, broadcast on EKOL TV. Tarhan responded to the allegations regarding his involvement in activities relared to the HZI foundation.
In the live broadcast, where many issues such as family, increasing divorces, addiction and mean world syndrome were discussed, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan answered journalist Balçiçek İlter's allegations about the Hamide Zekeriya İtil (HZI) foundation.
Tarhan: "There is an assumption of intention here"
Upon İlter's question, "Sir, have you ever worked there, where does this thing come from?", Tarhan made the following remarks:
"No, I have never worked there. There is an assumption of intention here. I have not done any work on the foundation. As alleged, I did not work as an assistant to Ayhan Songar or Turan İtil. İtil is internationally known for his studies in the field of electrophysiology and the electrical movements of the nervous system. It is actually a very valuable name. He is a successful person with awards..."
Tarhan: "A connection is being established because I have a military physician background..."
Journalist İlter asked, "As far as I know, you have never been in that group. Have you ever received an offer?"
"It was September 12 when that research conducted. I was an assistant in Ankara. I was more of a specialist student. I did not even hear of it... Later, I heard about it from the press. I think the connection is being made because I have a military physician background. Details of the project are in the archives of the General Staff, a real project... If the General Staff makes a statement, it is done"
Balçiçek İlter: "Do you know Ayhan Songar, how do you evaluate the research?"
Tarhan: "Of course I do. He was our professor when I was in Cerrahpaşa. However, since I was a civilian soldier, I have never worked together with him."
On İlter's question whether the studies carried out at that time were scientific, Tarhan said:
"Back then, conducting research in prisons and the military was not against scientific ethics, but now it is. However, it may have been done with permission, I do not know. There were no ethics committees at that time. I know that when I was at GATA, there was no ethics committee at that time. Later, ethics committees came out in accordance with the ethics committee in the United States."
Tarhan: "They are looking for a scapegoat..."
İlter said, "So something has been done..."
Tarhan said that "I strongly guess that it has been done. However, there is no published information, and there is no presentation at the congress. And there is no explanation from the General Staff either. In other words, the General Staff should explain whether such a thing happened or did not happen at that time. As long as you do not say that, and the subject always remains ambiguous. This time, they are always looking for scapegoats."
