President of Üsküdar University Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan attended the Black Sea Confederation of Non-Governmental Organizations (KASTOB) International Short Film Competition Award Ceremony with the theme of "Women on the Coast", which was organized to make women's voices heard, empowered and respect women's labor. In his speech, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized the difference in the roles in women's lives and that they all have a separate responsibility and stated that "The term housewife is quite wrong. Instead of calling it housewife, we should say house laborer."

Many important names attended the film premiere award ceremony held at Taksim Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM).

"The name Women on the Coast is well-chosen..."

Speaking at the award ceremony, President of Üsküdar University Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan stated that "I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this beautiful event. It is very hard work. A lot of work is being put into it. Shooting a three- or five-minute film means months, that is, it means the work of many people. After all, this art gives great messages. The name 'Women on the Coast was chosen very well."

"Instead of being a housewife, we should say domestic worker"

Highlighting the difference in the roles in women's lives and the fact that they all have different responsibilities, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan stated that "The term housewife is quite wrong. Instead of housewife, it is necessary to say house laborer. Their labor, their work is not visible. There is both the role of a mother, the role of a wife, and the role of a businessperson if she is working. She has more responsibility under all these roles. Within this patriarchal culture, she is much more affected by her altruism and giving. That is why it is more important to call her a house laborer. I wish success to all those who contributed and to the competitors one by one."
