President of Üsküdar University, Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan stated that "Human and universal values were suddenly ignored in the Gaza events."

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan gave a seminar on "Social and psychological problems in modern age families and ways to solve them" in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

The seminar, hosted by the Kazakhstan Institute of Community Development operating under the Kazakhstan Ministry of Culture and Information, was attended by university students as well as local experts.

Prof. Tarhan first made a presentation on statistics on global family problems and protecting the family structure in the current age.

Stating that they are ready to share their experience in this field with Kazakh experts, Tarhan expressed that “The institution of family is very important not only for preserving our own culture, but also for the future of humanity."

Stating that he sees a good effort in Kazakhstan to turn the negative direction regarding the family institution in the world into a positive one, Tarhan said that "I am here to share my own professional experiences on this subject."

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent after the seminar, Tarhan expressed that he will give a speech on "psychology of values" at the Eurasian National University in Astana tomorrow.

Drawing attention to the importance of this issue in a world where human values are rapidly decreasing, Tarhan stated that "Humanitarian and universal values were suddenly ignored in the Gaza events."

Pointing out that human and universal values are not genetic, they are actually learned values, Tarhan stated that "The double standards about the killing of civilians in war show that the issue of values is hypocritical globally, and that the values in politics and the values at the ceiling of the society do not coincide. However, the global conscience does not accept the dissolution of these human values. That is why I believe these events are similar to the pains of a great birth."

At the end of the seminar, a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation was signed between the Kazakhstan Institute of Social Development and Üsküdar University.
