Driving safety on a 9-day holiday ...

This year, many people have gone on vacation or are preparing to go on vacation thanks to the Eid al-Fitr holiday being 9 days. Warning that citizens who will travel with their own vehicles for the holiday should pay attention to driving safety, road and traffic safety consultant Şener expressed that "In order not to disrupt your holiday or to experience a sadder incident, make sure that your vehicle has complete periodic maintenance before traveling. The first thing to do is to have the vehicle maintained."

"Plan yourself stopovers"

Noting that it is certainly necessary to rest for at least 8 hours before traveling. Instructor Özgür Şener stated that "Traveling with a well-rested body is very important for your travelling pleasure and safety. Also, before traveling, check the traffic, weather conditions and road works of the area you are going to beforehand. Plan yourself stopovers and set points for emergencies."

"Ensure that all passengers in the vehicle wear seat belts"

Noting that the functions of the vehicle such as tire, lighting, load safety and fuel should be checked before the journey, Instructor Özgür Şener expressed that "Make sure that the deficiencies such as windshield wiper fluid are completed. Have your vehicle's documents such as license and driver's license ready. Wearing a seatbelt does not take you a second. However, when you do not wear a seatbelt, its pain is unforgettable for a lifetime. Ensure that all occupants of the vehicle wear seatbelts. Make sure that you are using the appropriate seat for infants and children, that the child seat is attached to the vehicle and that the child is attached to the child seat."

The sun makes it difficult to see vehicles around

Stating that the sun can also force drivers and adversely affect safe driving. Instructor Özgür Şener stated that if the sun is behind while driving, great attention should be paid, other vehicles may be difficult to see or not seen in the mirrors, and the brake lights of the vehicles in front will be difficult to see.

Emphasizing that there are points to be considered when the sun is ahead while driving, Instructor Özgür Şener said that "Sunlight creates a bright surface and makes it difficult to see. Vehicles around may not be noticed, even if they are within visual angle. A dirty windshield has an extremely negative impact on the driver's visibility."

Tips for ensuring driving safety in sunny weather

Instructor Özgür Şener emphasized the importance of using sunglasses that will ensure the highest level of vision quality throughout the ride and said that “the mirrors should be checked more frequently, knowing that other drivers may also be adversely affected by the sun. Do not look directly at oncoming vehicles, sun reflection can take your eyes and cause temporary blindness," and Şener added that if the road cannot be seen clearly, the speed should be reduced.

As the speed increases, so does the danger...

Pointing out the issue of compliance with traffic rules, Instructor Özgür Şener reminded that all studies and accident analyzes prove that the danger will increase as the speed increases, and that a 20-kilometer speed increase on a 500-kilometer road saves a maximum of 40 minutes and increases the risk of death in case of a possible accident by 6 times.

Instructor Özgür Şener also pointed out the necessity of taking 15-minute breaks every 2 hours, and said that every year, the news of the holiday is combined with the news of accidents, and that it will be possible to have a safe and happy holiday by following the rules of this holiday.
