President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan attended the training organized by the Independent Student Platform. Commenting on the title of "New Truths in Education", Tarhan pointed out that the Internet should be a tool, not a goal. Tarhan stated that "We should be the subject of the Internet, not its object. Digitalization is an opportunity, not a threat. If it is used correctly, it turns into an opportunity, and when it is used incorrectly, it becomes a threat."

"The most ideal learning is the one which uses 5 senses"

President of Üsküdar University Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan evaluated "New Truths in Education" in the online program and stated that "When we say new truths in education, it would be more accurate to say the changing world and education. There are 21st century skills in education. If we know these skills, we will be comparing the old and the new. The 21st century learning model is the experiential learning model. Learning by experience, especially in neuroscience, the emergence of neuroscience has caused very revolutionary and serious changes. It started with studies on 'How does the human brain learn?' As a result of these studies, the following has emerged more; There is a learning pyramid for the human brain to learn from the bottom to the top. At its most basic, there is learning by telling someone, it is temporary learning. When you repeat it, it becomes a little bit more permanent. Then you disassemble it and put it back on, it gets a little more consolidated and the learning pyramid gets stronger. In the end, you learn when you teach others, so you learn while you teach. The most ideal learning is learning by experiencing something, learning in which the 5 senses come into play."

The biggest reason for polarization is the lack of justice of love."

Talking about polarization and partiality, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan also talked about ways to get rid of them. Tarhan said that "The biggest reason for polarization is the lack of justice of love. There is no polarization in families that are open to criticism. Criticism is a gift. If criticism is based on a justified basis, people see their mistakes and improve themselves. The most important reason for polarization and partiality is not the justice-oriented system, but the power-oriented systems. Secondly, this power should be in laws and rules, not individuals. If a person feels safe in a regulated environment, one feels safe, and when a person feels safe, polarization or tension decreases. Where there is justice, people have trust. When trust is established, fear decreases, and when fear decreases, polarization does not occur. I feel like I will not be treated unfairly. The cause of the disease of bias is the presence of discrimination and the lack of a sense of justice. The most important thing that distinguishes developed countries from undeveloped countries is not buildings and skyscrapers, but whether there is law or not.”

"Fear, which is necessary to protect life, turns into torture when it is overdosed"

Pointing out the fact that always staying in a defensive mode prevents development and what needs to be done to get rid of it or overcome it, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan said that "Staying on the defensive mode shows that a person makes decisions in life based on fears, not facts. Fear is necessary and useful for preserving life; however, it turns into torture when you excess your dose. The important thing is to manage fear appropriately and correctly. People who act out of fear deviate from the goal and purpose, they are always on the defensive."

"The Internet should be a tool, not a goal"

Evaluating digitalization in education, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan; "We can use the internet for our ideals, we can use the internet for our own personal goals, but here the Internet should be the tool, not the goal. We should be the subject of the Internet, not its object. If we do this in the digital world, it will lead to its goal like nuclear energy, and if we are captive of the digital world, it will explode in our face. Digitalization is an opportunity, not a threat. If it is used correctly, it turns into an opportunity, and when it is used incorrectly, it becomes a threat."
