About the Book:

The use of medicinal plants as medicines is as old as human history. With the first person who applied the sap of a plant to his wound and saw that this application gave positive results, folk medicine (phytotherapy) also began. Early humans knew that plants had healing powers. For example, they chewed different organs and parts of plants such as flowers, fruits, seeds, stems, leaves, roots and peel, and tried to understand whether they were medicinal or poisonous from their taste and smell.

The fact that Türkiye, which is a natural pharmacy, is extremely rich in terms of biodiversity and our people's fondness for medicinal plants has accelerated Phytotherapy studies. First of all, the book has been prepared to give our students information based on scientific data about the plants used in phytotherapy and the plants used in phytotherapy today in the supplementary textbook that we have prepared for our students.

In this book, phytotherapeutic studies of 288 plants found only in the herbarium were made. The spread of these phytotherapy plants in Türkiye, the region where they are collected, the parts used, the active compounds and their medicinal effect values are explained. Moreover, plants and effects that have gained new importance in current phytotherapy in Türkiye are also included, and they are introduced with 288 original color pictures taken by us and phytotherapeutic properties are written next to them.
