Presidential Service Award for the Turkish Scientist

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, the psychiatrist and the Rector of Uskudar University, was granted the Presidential Service Award in the ECNS (EEG & Clinical Neuroscience Society) meeting due to his contributions to the ECNS Association as well as the medicine community.

The annual meeting of the ECNS Association (EEG & Clinical Neuroscience Society), which conducts scientific studies on the electrophysiology of the brain, was held in Munich, Germany between the dates 9-13th September, 2015.

This year in the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan was granted the Presidential Service Award by virtue of the contributions he has made both to the ECNA and the medicine community for many years.

In the ceremony, the fact that Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan has put the neuroscience data in the world into practice with the “Translational Neuroscience” approach and the example of NPİSTANBUL Neuropsychiatry Hospital was declared to be the major reason why he was considered worthy of the award. It was also underlined that such an application example, quite significant in the early diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, is a justified pride for Turkey.

Again, in the same meeting, Ass. Prof. Dr. Gökben Hızlı Sayar from NPİSTANBUL Neuropsychiatry Hospital was granted the TMS Award and Young Researchers Award on account of her scientific contributions to electroneurophysiology.

The American Prof.  Dean Salisbury, the President of ECNS, reminded the meeting participants of the fact that the American Prof. Dr. Norman Moore, one of the leading names of the psychiatry community, had visited NPİSTANBUL Neuropsychiatry Hospital in the past and claimed this hospital to rank number one in the world. Salisbury also recommended that the audience definitely visit NPİSTANBUL Neuropsychiatry Hospital on the occasion of the ECNS 2016 meeting that will be held in İstanbul next year.

Presidential Service Award was presented to Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan by Prof.  Dean Salisbury, the President of ECNS, and Silvana Galderisi, the President of the European Psychiatry Association (EPA).
