Effective exercise interventions can improve attention skills
Üsküdar University Graduate School of Health Sciences Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department student Elif Punar’s thesis titled “The Effect of Purpose-Oriented Balance and Coordination Exercises on Attention and Quality of Life in Children Diagnosed with Specific Learning Disability” was published in the BMC Pediatrics (Open Access/SCIE-Q2) journal.
In her thesis, Punar, who investigated the effects of physiotherapeutic applications on children with specific learning disabilities, stated that according to the results, an effective exercise intervention for children with specific learning disabilities could improve cognitive tasks such as attention skills.
Exercises should be applied to reduce premenstrual symptoms
Another thesis was written by Üsküdar University Graduate School of Health Sciences Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department student Şeyma Aykut. In her thesis titled “The Effect of Video-Based Pilates Exercises on Premenstrual Symptoms,” Aykut focused on the common premenstrual symptoms and used various exercise applications from a physiotherapist's perspective to reduce these symptoms. Aykut’s thesis was published in the Ginekologia Polska (Open Access/SCIE-Q3) journal.
In her thesis, Aykut demonstrated that through pilates, the correct use of muscles and improved muscle awareness could effectively alleviate premenstrual symptoms.
The results also showed that individuals suffering from premenstrual symptoms could benefit from non-pharmacological interventions.
These studies conducted during graduate education, which is the most fundamental stage of an academic career, contribute to training students to become more qualified professionals.
