An evaluation meeting on social innovation projects was held in cooperation with KASTOB

Social innovation projects prepared within the scope of the cooperation protocol signed between Üsküdar University and the Black Sea Confederation of Non-Governmental Organizations (KASTOB) were discussed at the "Social Innovation Projects Evaluation Meeting" hosted by Üsküdar University. The meeting was organized to provide an important platform for producing innovative solutions to social problems, to analyze the projects in depth and to develop strategies for the future.

The meeting held in the Senate Hall of Üsküdar University Main Campus was attended by President of Üsküdar University Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, KASTOB President Nevzat Duyar, Akdeniz University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Sami Mencet, Üsküdar University Project Development Director Asst. Prof. Nebiye Yaşar, representatives of the federation that prepares social innovation projects and KASTOB volunteer team Earth Angels.

Social transformation under Social Innovation and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The social innovation projects highlighted at the meeting aim to increase their positive impact on society within the framework of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These projects directly contribute to topics such as equal opportunities in education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), economic growth and employment (SDG 8), reducing inequalities (SDG 10) and sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11). With these projects, it aims to create lasting impacts in various segments of society in line with the SDG goals by focusing on improving the quality of life of young people, women, disadvantaged groups and elderly individuals.

A science-based approach to the SDG targets

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan drew attention to the importance of university and civil society cooperation in developing scientific and sustainable solutions in line with the SDGs. Tarhan said that "Social innovation contributes to the achievement of society's SDG goals by producing creative and sustainable solutions. These projects have the potential to contribute not only to the present but also to the future," and Tarhan also added that young people will be the pioneers of social change by taking an active role in these projects.

A new era in KASTOB cooperation and contribution to the SDG

KASTOB President Nevzat Duyar stated that the cooperation with Üsküdar University opened the doors of a new era for KASTOB. Duyar stated that "These projects will contribute to the SDG's goals such as economic growth (SDG 8) and strong institutions (SDG 16) and support economic development as well as the social and cultural structure of the region," and Duyar emphasized the far-reaching impact of the projects.

Innovative strategies and sustainable solutions

The meeting focused on innovative strategies and sustainable solutions to increase the impact of projects on society. Developed in partnership with Üsküdar University and KASTOB, these projects aim to achieve sustainable social transformation based on the universal principles of social innovation and to make permanent contributions to Türkiye's social development in line with the SDGs.

Tarhan was presented with a certificate of membership of the KASTOB high advisory board

At the end of the meeting, KASTOB Chairman Nevzat Duyar and Chairman of the High Advisory Board Mahmut Ekşi presented Prof. Nevzat Tarhan with the "KASTOB High Advisory Board Membership" certificate. This honor symbolized Prof. Tarhan's contribution to social transformation projects within the framework of the SDG and was considered as an important step in strengthening inter-institutional cooperation.
