Experts say that artificial intelligence leads to an increase in the demand for a highly skilled workforce while it reduces the demand for people working in routine jobs in the labor market, and there have been significant changes in the workforce markets. This transformation has reshaped the skills and competencies of employees.

Noting that with the rise of artificial intelligence, new occupational groups will begin to emerge. Prof. Kristin Surpuhi Benli stated that "People can benefit from the potential of this technology by improving themselves in the areas needed by artificial intelligence technologies and acquiring new skills."

Üsküdar University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Deputy Head of Software Engineering Department, Asst. Prof. Kristin Surpuhi Benli evaluated the concern onthe unemployed caused by artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence is being used to help people

Stating that artificial intelligence is used to speed up routine operations, increase efficiency and quality, reduce the error rate, and to help people and make their lives easier, Asst. Prof. Kristin Surpuhi Benli expressed that "Developments in artificial intelligence are leading to changes and transformations in the way many industries such as office work, accounting, legal services, health care and customer service work. In this process, the demand for highly skilled people who can produce solutions for future needs is increasing while the demand for people working in routine jobs in the labor market is decreasing. There are changes in the content of the competencies, knowledge and skills expected from employees. In this new period, the demand of employees who cannot meet expectations in the labor market is decreasing. What needs to be done here is to put employees through a high-quality training process that can bring their skills to a level where they can do skilled jobs."

AI can be used to reduce the workforce in simple and repetitive tasks

Emphasizing that artificial intelligence can be used to reduce the workforce in simple and repetitive jobs with a certain routine, Asst. Prof. Kristin Surpuhi Benli informed that "For example, AI-powered chatbots used in call centers have the ability to respond to simple customer requests in a short time and at any time of the day. Therefore, they take on some of the duties of call center employees. However, customers can contact the employees when there is a complex problem.”

It can investigate similar cases instead of a intern lawyer

Stating that artificial intelligence can also help managers in processes such as recruitment, performance evaluation and remuneration in the field of human resources, Asst. Prof. Kristin Surpuhi Benli said that "In the field of finance, it can prepare reports for clients and provide them with financial advice. Another example can be given in the field of Law. For example, artificial intelligence can do the research of other cases that are similar to the case being worked on instead of the intern lawyer. It can investigate and analyze hundreds of cases in a short time and present a result."

Unoriginal news content can be produced with artificial intelligence

Noting that journalism is another profession that can be considered at risk, Asst. Prof. Kristin Surpuhi Benli stated that "Inauthentic news content can be produced with artificial intelligence. However, artificial intelligence can help physicians in the diagnosis and treatment stages in the field of medicine. It can make the jobs of radiologists and pathologists easier since AI can be used in tasks such as automating image analysis. In the field of software, it can be used to improve the software development process and increase the quality of the resulting software."

New occupational groups will be formed

Emphasizing that new occupational groups will begin to emerge with the rise of artificial intelligence, Asst. Prof. Kristin Surpuhi Benli concluded her remarks as follows: "For example, as artificial intelligence continues to progress rapidly, it brings ethical concerns to people's minds. In the future, we will see artificial intelligence ethics expertise in the workforce market as a new profession that will solve the ethical problems posed by artificial intelligence. Who will be responsible for the mistakes made by artificial intelligence will be the new subject of study in the field of law and new legal regulations will be made. However, professions such as artificial intelligence engineering, robotics engineering, data science expertise, cyber security expertise, and digital marketing expertise will stand out in the business world. Employees with a background in areas such as data analysis, machine learning, natural language processing, and database management are more needed in this period. People can benefit from the potential of this technology by improving themselves in the areas needed by artificial intelligence technologies and acquiring new skills."
