The event, which took place at Üsküdar University South Campus Socrates Hall, was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan.

It is important to emphasize conceptual and theoretical knowledge to students!

Stating that the field has become even more complicated with the emergence of new concepts in the field of diplomacy, Prof. Özgün Erler Bayir expressed that "The changes in the field of diplomacy and the diversification of new types of diplomacy are a very interesting and complex topic. In particular, the debates on concepts such as public diplomacy, the lack of clear definitions of these concepts and their intertwining with each other increase the complexity of the field. In this context, it is important to emphasize conceptual and theoretical knowledge to students. This provides a solid foundation for their future work."

"New areas have added a new dimension to traditional diplomacy"

Evaluating the fields of digital diplomacy and science diplomacy, Prof. Özgün Erler Bayır stated that "The emergence of new types of diplomacy, such as digital diplomacy and science diplomacy, has added a new dimension to traditional diplomacy. The expansion of communication channels and tools along with digitalization has also expanded the working areas of diplomats. However, it can be difficult to clarify the boundaries of these new types of diplomacy and to understand their intertwining. Science diplomacy stands out as an important field. Scientific cooperation can create common ground in international relations and be an effective tool in solving global problems. Especially when tackling scientific-based global problems, diplomats may need to develop policies based on scientific data and encourage international cooperation."

"Teachers should provide valuable guidance to students"

Recommending that new areas of diplomacy be transferred to students under the guidance of teachers, Prof. Özgün Erler Bayir stated that "When addressing these complex topics, it is important to emphasize to students clear definitions of concepts and the relationships between them. It is also important to help them understand how they can contribute in these areas in their future work. Teachers should provide valuable guidance to students in this area.”

The event ended after the questions of the participants were answered.
