Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan answered those who are curious about how the brutality in Palestine is reflected in society and the role of eastern societies for Haber 7.

Pointing out that the prejudice in people can be broken as a result of the whole world witnessing the crime against humanity in Gaza, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan stated that the cold-blooded stance in the face of death and disaster attracts attention worldwide. Stating that the Palestinian people exhibit prophetic morality and that this is an example of “the Age of Happiness” (Asr-ı Saadet), Tarhan said that this situation has started a serious questioning in people with good intentions and truth-seeking action, and the effects of this will be seen in the coming years.

Stating that the western society avoided Islam in the past, Tarhan stated that Islamophobia was seriously questioned and that sympathy for Islam was born with these experiences.

There is a culture of oppression in Eastern societies

Stating that there is an act of seeking the truth in the people of this age and that only those who seek the truth will find it, Tarhan expressed "In Muslim countries, there is not weakness, but not indifference." Underlining that Türkiye is also included when talking about Muslim countries, Tarhan summarized the situation in these countries and said that "Due to the diseases of comfortism, worldliness and selfishness, the new generation is raised with western culture and values, but while the west is already in these values, it can search for new values and look at the event from a wider window."

Mentioning that oppressive cultures are the second disease in eastern societies and that they are ruled by authoritarian governments, Tarhan pointed out that there is a government with pressure and fear and gave an example of this situation with the family structure. With the example he gave, he stated that a child may have the perception of "obey and relax" as a result of being managed by pressure, fear and bullying. He mentioned that the issue of "indifference" led to losing the exam.

Drawing attention to the necessity of awareness studies, Tarhan explained that the perception that "something will happen to me when I speak" leads to indifference and indifference. According to Tarhan, this is a disease of all eastern societies.

Do not forget what happened in Gaza

Stating that the wounds of those in Palestine will be healed with the support of the society, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan said that "I hope this brutality will end as soon as possible. Healing the wounds is not difficult at all, it is very easy. I think our communities will quickly come out and heal the wound."

Stating that it is necessary to know that political solutions are not easy at all, Tarhan said that "If there is a serious social reaction, it will be easy to heal the wounds." In response to those who say that the wounds cannot be healed in a long time, Tarhan said that "They say that it cannot be healed in 80 years, everything can be done very easily in 3-5 years. The important thing is to provide a safe and peaceful environment."

Underlining the issue of sensitivity and awareness, Tarhan stated that to empathize with the oppressed people of Gaza, we should not forget these experiences and said, "Human beings are inclined to forget and ignore the pain that they cannot afford. That is how people protects themselves. Weak people are like that. A weak person tries to suppress their fear by ignoring or forgetting the event. Strong people do not avoid facing the incident and come up with solutions." Stating that people who produce solutions will make a difference, Tarhan stated that people who say "What is my part here, what can I do" will take action.

Talking about the manifesto they published, Tarhan stated that it would be beneficial for everyone to question themselves and take action to turn these events into opportunities.
