World Dentists' Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in Üsküdar

November 22 World Dentists Day was celebrated at Üsküdar University NP Health Campus İbni Sina Auditorium. Students showed great interest to the program organized by Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry and Üsküdar Dental Hospital. In the program, which was also attended by Üsküdar University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Furkan Tarhan, Tarhan said that "We are working to protect and improve people's smiles."

Üsküdar University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Furkan Tarhan, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Yumuşhan Günay, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. İbrahim Berk Bellaz, Director of the Supreme Council of Directors Health Institutions Fırat Tarhan, faculty members and students participated in the celebration of Dentists' Day.

Prof. Yumuşhan Günay: "Our profession is based on three very trustworthy people"

Speaking at the celebration organized on the occasion of Dentists' Day, Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry Dean Prof. Yumuşhan Günay emphasized the important figures who laid the foundations of the dentistry profession. Günay stated that "115 years ago, the modern foundations of Turkish Dentistry were laid by three people. One of them is Emrullah Efendi, who was the deputy of education at the time. The characteristics of Emrullah Efendi was that he was a very serious encyclopedia. He is the person who started the first encyclopedia studies in the Ottoman period. A person was the person who thought about the education and reform of that period. The second name is Cemil Topuzlu Pasha. He is a very efficient doctor who made very serious discoveries not only within the borders of the Ottoman Empire but also within Europe. The third name is Halit Shazi Bey. He is a such a mad person that he turns a room of his house into a laboratory and conducts a lot of experiments. He is a person who worked as a military physician in the last period of the Ottoman Empire, when wars were going on many fronts, and accumulated a lot of experience in this regard. While he was a surgeon, he became interested in the handicrafts part of dentistry and performed dental treatments in a room of his house. The foundation of our profession was laid by three people who are very special in their own right. Our profession is based on three very trustworthy people. In this respect, I care about our profession. Happy Dentists’ Day."

Furkan Tarhan: "We are working to protect and improve people's smiles"

Later, Üsküdar University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Furkan Tarhan pointed out that a healthy mouth is not only the basis of a beautiful smile, but also the basis of general health. Tarhan said that "Today, on World Dentists Day, we have come together to celebrate the representatives of this important profession and their contribution to human health. As a university, we work to protect and improve people's smiles. A healthy mouth is not only a beautiful smile, but also the basis of general health... On this special day, I would like to appreciate the devoted work of all my professors and emphasize their importance in the field of health. I would like to thank all our physicians who strive for healthy and happy smiles. I congratulate all of us on this special day."

In the program held with great participation, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Yumuşhan Günay and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Furkan Tarhan cut a cake for the meaning and importance of the day after the speeches.

The program ended with a celebration with a group photo shoot.
