Syrian Revolution in its 8th year
Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports Directorate and Üsküdar University Erasmus and International Student Club organized an event titled “Syrian Revolution 8”.
The students commemorated the Syrian Revolution in the event held at Üsküdar University Main Campus Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall.
Students from different countries came together
In his opening speech, Erasmus and International Student Club President Abdulmacit Çacobo stated that as Erasmus students, they aimed to bring together students from different countries and try to combat race discrimination applied in the world.
Abdulkader Afara, a Computer Engineering student at Üsküdar University, and Omar Alhomsi, Chemical and Biology Engineering student, gave information about the flow of the Syrian Revolution. Amr Koke and the student of Biology Engineering Lojain Morad read a poem.
“You are the children of this country”
Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports Directorate Deputy Manager Sadık Paksoy stated in his speech that, “İstanbul is your country. You came to Turkey and you are no foreigners, immigrants here. You are the children of this nation because you will see the Baghdad, Damascus, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq when you go to Çanakkale. Your grandparents were martyred in these lands and my two grandparents were martyred in Yemen. So this land is our common homeland.”
The program ended with artist Bara Owayed singing.
