New developments in PROMER enzyme studies

The study conducted in Üsküdar University, Istanbul Protein and Research and Innovation (PROMER) laboratories, is accepted to be published in the “Preparative Biochemistry and Biotechnology” journal.

Üsküdar University, Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Bioengineering graduate students Betül Zehra Karakuş, İlknur Korkmaz, Kübra Demirci, Kadir Sinan Arslan and Dr. Faculty Member Özge Ünlü conducted the study under the leadership of PROMER Director Prof. Tunç Çatal that lasted for a year and a half.

Prof. Tunç Çatal indicated that Bacillus sp. Type microorganisms that are isolated and identified by the central infrastructure facilities were registered in the International GenBank database. Prof. Çatal stated, “Amylase enzyme production process which is widely used in industry has been investigated and enzyme production has been increased with the applied experimental method and optimization studies in the research”.

A national product

The study carried out with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency was designed as a national product that also includes the enzyme production method for field application and patent application supported by the Office of Technology Transfer Office, Üsküdar University Rectorate and Board of Trustees.
