Brain researchers are meeting in Miami

Üsküdar University is representing Turkey in Brain İnitiative Project launched in 2013 by the U.S.A. President Barack Obama to develop treatment and to study the unknown secrets of the brain and major diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Autism, Schizophrenia, and Parkinson's disease. 16 professionals from the university will participate 13^th annual meeting of Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT), and will give presentations about brain mapping and latest treatment methods.

From the team headed by Prof. Selahattin Gültekin, Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Üsküdar University, Prof. Nesrin Dilbaz, Asst. Prof. Murat Demirer, Assoc. Prof. Serhat Özekes, Assoc. Prof.Barış Metin, Asst. Prof. Hüseyin Ünübol, Asst. Prof. Türker Ergüzel, Asst. Prof. Oğuz Tan, Asst. Prof. Barış Önen Ünsalver and Dr. Mahir Yeşildal will give a presentation in the meeting. Prof. Sinan Canan and Asst. Prof. Nüket İşiten will join the meeting with poster. Professionals will share their knowledge and experience with their colleagues on many issues including new methods in psychiatry and rTMS (Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) method in neuropsychiatric illnesses.

It is aimed to remove the borders

Üsküdar University will open a booth at the meeting to be held between the dates of April 8-10 in Miami. With the activities organized by the Üsküdar University, the work on brain mapping both in Turkey and in Üsküdar University will be explained. More than 500 scientists will attend the meeting where it is aimed to remove the borders between science, engineering, art and medical sciences, and to exchange information about the brain with a multidisciplinary approach.

Last year, Üsküdar University organized 2^nd G20 World Brain Mapping and Therapeutics Scientific Summit, and shared the final declaration with the world leaders in Antalya during the G20 on November the 15^th. Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Dean of Üsküdar University and board member of Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT), emphasized that overcoming limitations through interdisciplinary collaboration is needed to unravel the mysteries of the brain.
